Director Biologics Learning and Development

( Westborough, MA )The Director Biologics Learning & Development directs the site learning and development leaders and overall functions at the five Biologic manufacturing sites in Massachusetts. The Director will ensure that network training strategy is consistently deployed and effectively managed across the manufacturing sites, in a manner that maximizes efficiency and achieves desired compliance targets.

Success in this role depends on the ability to lead, manage, mentor and develop L&D leaders and professionals; build relationships with business leaders, and guide the planning, implementation, and management of learning programs, projects and initiatives in accordance with Biologics and L&D strategic plans.

Learning & Development department is the corporate central learning organization responsible for the learning strategy and global network. Learning and Development ensures compliant training systems across the network, works with the network to develop learning programs (including compliance training, management & leadership development) and learning technologies to ensure efficient and effective learning solutions. Learning and Development leads the Learning Network that enables business success by implementing effective and efficient learning solutions resulting in competent, engaged employees.

Key Responsibilities:

*Lead the learning management system deployment for Biologic sites. Ensure learning activities are recorded within the Learning Management System (LMS) in a manner that enables accurate and timely reporting of key learning metrics, and play an active role in defining the user requirements and standards to assure the administration of the current and future LMS meets the needs of management and the user community.

*Deploy the Competency-Based Learning (CBL) model across Biologics manufacturing sites and participate in the preparation of future competency models, libraries, competency profiles, and assessments. Lead and influence through exhibiting and sharing knowledge, providing education, and modeling CBL behaviors.

*Direct the deployment of the overall L&D strategy at the Biologics manufacturing sites, in partnership with the other leaders of L&D and network learning professionals, with the goal of advancing the learning culture of the organization at all the sites.

*Develop next level leaders in L&D sites in management skills and advanced knowledge of regulatory compliance, learning and development methodologies, in order to facilitate succession for L&D and the greater business.

*Ensure the L&D site organizations execute the requirements of the corporate training standards with respect to personal qualification and training systems, including periodic review of learning plans, instructors, training materials, etc. and the availability of business reports and metrics pertaining to site compliance with the standards, and initiatives activities/progress that inform management decision-making.

*Participate in the design and deployment of L&D knowledge management process to improve performance, competitive advantage, innovation, the sharing of lessons learned, integration and continuous improvement of the organization.

*Work with the entire network on innovative approaches in knowledge sharing, including organizing knowledge sharing events (such as knowledge fairs, site visits, interviews, participation in orientation and training sessions, participation and leadership of external organizations, and preparation of case studies/brochures/presentations).

*Support development of innovative forms of learning to improve retention and compliance and embed that in the design of learning programs, projects, and initiatives e.g. CBL, Bio Academy, VR, AR etc.

*Assist in curriculum and vendor rationalization efforts, design and development of the Learning functions, development of governance and transparency mechanisms, operational processes design, and the setting and enforcement of standards.

*Influence cross-functional teams without formal authority, work collaboratively with others to solve problems, lead teams and establish strong working relationships.

*Key Responsibilities may differ among employees with the same job title and may change over time, in accordance with business needs


*Bachelor’s degree in education, training and development, or comparable fields of study

*Minimum of 10 years’ experience in organizational learning & development team in a global organization.

*Minimum of 8 years’ of experience in a GMP regulated environment with strong content knowledge of cGMP/regulatory compliance

*5-7 years’ experience leading a team of learning and development professionals

*Experience developing competency models and implementing Competency-Based learning systems and initiatives


*Master's level degree in education, training and development, or comparable fields of study.

*Experience managing large-scale organizational change initiatives.

*Manufacturing and/or Quality experience.
