Sanofi Group Head of Process Chemistry U.S. in Waltham, Massachusetts
Sanofi’s Process Chemistry organization is seeking an experienced individual to join as Head of Process Chemistry U.S. Reporting to the global Head of Process Chemistry and Small Molecules. This role is primarily responsible for leading chemistry teams to drive creative solutions for commercial process design to prepare our small-molecule and conjugate drug candidates. The group is part of CMC Synthetics and located in Cambridge, MA.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead process chemists in innovative chemistry, challenging established norms and drives technical / operational strategy to deliver to Sanofi’s synthetic portfolio.
Ensure safety first mentality in laboratory operations, experimental and process design.
Provide significant leadership contributions to process chemistry teams to deliver robust data packages supporting technical decisions
Serve as a technical authority and keep current in organic chemistry literature and related technology.
Independently author technical reports, patents, peer reviewed publications and actively participate in cutting edge scientific conferences.
Convey information and make recommendations on scientific issues to senior management based upon data and sound scientific rationale.
Lead cross-functional committees to address departmental and interdepartmental problem solving, and activities.
PhD in Chemistry (Organic chemistry) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience or a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with 14 years of relevant work experience.
A minimum of 5 years of experience managing a team of scientists.
Strong scientific track-record in the fields of continuous processing, biocatalysis, molecular modellingand/or high-throughput experimentation.
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team of development scientists.
Track record of collaboration with scientists and other professionals outside of department / company such as consortia or academic institutions.
Have an advanced scientific network within academia and industry.
Demonstrated successful application of innovative technology to large scale manufacturing in compliance with current and emerging regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, ICH, etc.).
A change agent mentality proposing novel approaches to scientific questions.
