Sanofi Group Associate Director, Finance Specialty Care External Supply in Waltham, Massachusetts

JOB SUMMARY:

The Associate Director, Finance Specialty Care External Supply manages the financial operational performance of a large Rare Blood Diseases portfolio with production at CMOs. He/She will be an active contributor to the strategic/business development of the portfolio by providing strong finance business partnering and supporting the decision-making process with impactful financial insights and recommendations.

This senior position within the Finance Team is a key role supporting the growth and success of the “External Supply” scope in the Specialty Care platform (Industrial Affairs). The position will be the Control Tower of more than 20 manufacturing agreements worldwide providing strategic Drug Substance and Drug Products to Sanofi Group.

In this position the controller will ensure the contractual compliance, development and implementation of the cost structure for complex global financial flows. This position will be highly connected to the Operations, Quality and Supply-Chain organizations.

The successful candidate will be highly experienced in manufacturing cost accounting, influence key decisions, have strong analytical skills with a proven record of success in process improvement and used to handling multiple projects in a fast pace and changing environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Operational and Finance teams by providing financial expertise and recommendations for financial optimization and business performance.

  • Strong team player and strong collaboration in cross functional projects and initiatives.

  • Demonstrate ability to influence key decisions.

  • Ensure understanding and follow-up of contractual manufacturing commitments.

  • Monitor accurate financial records, anticipates and escalates contract risks. Provide mitigation financial strategies to close financial gaps .

  • D evelop standard costs for new product launches in compliance with Sanofi policies and international flows and in coordination with Methods and Procedure team at Sanofi Headquarter, Shared Business Services and corporate accounting teams (Tax, Transfer Price, etc.),

  • Ensure alignment with Global Supply Chain in the standard cost setting process and the monthly closing process.

  • Continuous improvement oriented, update standard costs of CMO contracts in a simple and effective way.

  • Ensure accurate reporting in SAP, TM1, HFM tools and meet all FP&A deadlines in full and in a timely manner.

  • Provide qualitative and on time financial reporting to track KPIs as industrial activity and manufacturing variances.

  • Coordinates retro-planning and follow-up of financial plans and forecasts.

  • Provide inventory reporting and reconcile data with Quality, Supply Chain and CMOs on a regular basis. Streamline processes and deliver reliable and well documented financial projections . Calculate and report capitalization of manufacturing variances.

  • Manage the complex reconciliation process in financial system

  • Prepare financial reports, to be shared and/or present to Specialty Care Management.

  • Ensure internal controls follow-up and alignment with Sanofi financial policies. Prepare monthly schedules necessary for SOX and Internal Control processes.

  • Track project spending (Capex and Opex) vs. Plan and approved project investment.

  • Back-up of Head of Finance BP – External Supply

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting /Finance required. MBA or CPA is a plus.

  • 10 years of work experience in Finance/Accounting. Emphasis on manufacturing cost accounting and financial analysis.

  • Experience in a manufacturing company (within the pharmaceutical industry preferred).

  • Knowledge of a financial reporting system (SAP, Oracle, HFM, or TM1) and Excel.

  • Excellent communication skills and people skills.

  • Feel comfortable in a complex international environment.

  • Experience working with a team and collaborating cross functionally.

  • This position may require up to 10% travel.
