Sanofi Group Integrated Manufacturing Systems Leader (Deputy Director, B100 Project) in Toronto, Ontario

Mission

The B100 (building 100) IMS leader is responsible for leading the IMS team through the construction, validation and start-up of the new state of the biologics bulk manufacturing facility. The mission of this role is intended to provide strategic guidance and collaborative leadership implementing manufacturing execution systems for the new bulk building. This will be accomplished by leveraging operations processing experts within the team to provide operations based knowledge, technical expertise with respect to integrated manufacturing systems. The role is accountability implementation of MES, Data historian (PI), design, site system integration (ERP, PCS, etc), documentation, resourcing/planning, training, and delivering of the integrated manufacturing systems.

The B100 project IMS leader will report directly to the director of B100 Manufacturing (new vaccine facility - largest Biotech build in Canada). The IMS leader lead will build a team under them as needed to support each phase of the project per the project approved IMS staffing plan.

Key Accountabilities

IMS Strategy

  • Setting strategic direction & deliverables for MES and PI and related integrated manufacturing solutions

  • Develop and drive site and company objectives for paperless/digital manufacturing

  • Develop and lead strategies for architecture, implementation and configuration of computerized systems (MES, PI, etc,)

  • Ensure integration with manufacturing automation and site systems (PCS, BMS, EMS, ERP, etc)

  • Develop strategies integration of digital solutions including: Business processes, Quality systems (RBE), Documentation

Project Management

  • Support and lead all phases of the project (design, engineering, construction, validation, start-up)

  • Support and lead a smooth transition from project execution, project batch manufacturing, licensure, and licensed manufacturing facility start-up and beyond.

  • Develop and track IMS deliverables against project schedule with meaningful KPI’s

  • Develop and implement communication plan

IMS Execution

  • Accountable IMS execution and delivery including;

  • MBR development, testing, validation and implementation

  • MES and PI system testing, validation and integration (configuration)

  • Development of documentation related interfaces

  • Training plan and execution

Staff Development

  • Build and lead an organization to help develop their respective parts of the new facility and to execute all IMS related activities throughout the project life cycle.

  • Develop next generation of leaders and build a competent manufacturing team.

Safety, cGMP Compliance, Accurate Documentation

  • Ensures that the project is carried out in a safe manner and safety issues are effectively resolved; ensures operating procedures are current and followed; ensures adherence to policies

Scope and Dimensions

The B100 project is the largest Biopharmaceutical facility project ever in Canada. The success of the B100 project is a top priority for the company and for the site, and the IMS Leader role is an essential success factor. All team members are striving for the same goal. Compromise, negotiation, effective communication, respect for different view-points, and respect for decisions are essential. Team could be larger than 100 Direct and Indirect reports.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum B.Eng., B.Sc. or equivalent (Master’s preferred)

  • Experience with Integrated Manufacturing Systems and Industry 4.0 including: ERP, MES (Emerson/Siemen), SCADA, OSISoft Pi Historian, DeltaV record, Werum PAS|X,

  • Min 10 (ten) years, direct experience in pharma/biotech manufacturing, and quality environments/organizations

  • Min 5 (five) years demonstrated leadership in behavioral competencies.

  • Demonstrated technical competences in biopharma or life science industry.
