Summary of purpose/major responsibilities

The Purchase to Pay (P2P) Expert will support the delivery of best-in-class P2P services and Sanofi Business Support (SBO) transformations in Japan with the guidance of the P2P Lead in Japan and in line with the global and regional SBO operating model and Sanofi Play to Win strategy. He/she will embrace users of cross-functions to support market-specified requests and work closely with Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) partners for continuous User Experience (UX) improvement beyond daily operations. He/she will also be the gatekeeper of P2P processes covering the following areas locally in line with local legislation.

  • Vendor Master Data Management

  • Management of Indirect Purchasing Sequence (Purchase requisition – Purchase order- Goods receipt)

  • Invoice receiving & processing.

  • Payments

  • T&E Management

  • AP Monthly Closing & Reporting

Key Accountabilities

  1. Process Management: Works closely with BPO and local outsourced team to ensure business continuity of operational services and monitors support model in place.

  2. Cross-functional Collaboration: Provides accurate information to the internal users on P2P scope/process/tools/documents/articles, etc. Focus on UX, identify route cases by end-to-end analysis, propose solutions, and collaborate with neighboring functions under the guidance of the P2P Lead to improve user satisfaction and process efficiencies.

  3. Partnership: Together with the local P2P Lead, partner with local stakeholders to ensure that the process strategy enables the GBU strategy in Japan. Assist the local P2P Lead in streamlining the P2P processes by connecting end users with Procurement, Finance, Internal Control, etc., process owners, designing local processes, managing deviations, and aligning with relevant support functions.

  4. Change Management: Work with regional P2P Experts and assist the local P2P Lead in implementing SBO transformation projects and the Target Operating Model in Japan.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • 3+ years of direct work experience in Finance or Purchase-to-Pay/Source-to-Pay functions.

  • Excellent understanding of the end-to-end Purchase-to-Pay process.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and collaboration experiences with key stakeholders across functions.

  • The ability to deliver multitasks in a fast-changing environment. 

  • Results and service-oriented self-starter with strong analytical skills to resolve critical issues and ensure the process stays on track.

  • Experience working in a Global Business Services environment is a plus.

  • Native in Japanese and business-level English.
