Sanofi Group Senior Corporate Counsel in Swiftwater, Pennsylvania

POSITION OVERVIEW

Provides legal advice on R&D matters particularly those relating to R&D contract matters of the vaccine GBU.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt, accurate legal counsel to client groups on R&D legal matters

  • Drafts/reviews policies and guidelines

  • Works with client groups to identify, assess and address general legal concerns

  • Negotiates, drafts and reviews R&D agreements of all types

  • Works with outside counsel as needed

  • Reviews R&D agreements negotiated by paralegal and non-legal staff including risk assessment associated with non-standard provisions

  • Implements company policies and standards for business conduct

  • Demonstrates role specific Competencies on consistent basis

  • Demonstrates company Values on consistent basis

  • Performs related duties as requested

Management Responsibility:

  • This position does not have management responsibility and budgetary responsibility

Qualifications

Education:

  • Four-Year College Degree, a B.S degree or higher biology would be a plus

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience working in a law firm, in-house corporate legal department, or government agency

  • Experience working within the Pharmaceutical or Research-based Medical industry is a plus

  • Admission to a State Bar

  • Experience working on cross-functional teams that successfully met business goals while maintaining strict compliance with relevant laws, regulations and company policies

Professional Skills:

  • Knowledge of regulations and laws impacting the pharmaceutical industry

  • Broad based knowledge of general corporate law, regulatory law and policy

  • Ability to advise R&D groups about how to meet business goals while maintaining complete compliance with required laws, regulations and company policy

  • Knowledge of HIPAA and informed consent regulations

  • Ability to weigh pros and cons and seek external counsel when needed

  • Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical industry trends, legislative initiatives and impact on the Company

  • Ability to form strong relationships with clients, while maintaining independence and professional integrity

  • Ability to negotiate effectively with internal partners and third parties

  • Foster collaboration and compromise within legal parameters

  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts to individuals at various levels of the organization and with varying educational backgrounds

  • Maintain highest ethical standards and respect confidentiality of sensitive matters
