The Manager Senior Scientist within the Manufacturing Technology (MTECH) department of Vaccine Industrial Affairs leads the execution of influenza virus hemagglutinin gene purification, antigen and antisera production, in-house potency testing, preparing the reagent ready for drug substance release of Fluzone, Flublok and Covid-19 vaccines and to support the continuous improvement and licensing of new viral vaccines with high technical and scientific complexity.
The mission of MTECH function is to deliver robust and efficient process & testing with associated know how transfer to Manufacturing & QC. MTECH function also provides daily support manufacturing and QC toward industrial performance excellence.
Technical expert for influenza virus purification in eggs and cells and characterization by HA gene cleaving for antisera development, chromatography, running AKTA, HPLC and SRID.
Working experience in working in a BSL 2 lab, lab safety procedures and good laboratory practices (GLP) Participate in the network for reagent management, within Sanofi Pasteur.
Independently provide technical expertise on reagent development, perform data analysis, and publish protocols/reports/procedures.
Demonstrate cross-functional teamwork across platforms in MTech, VIA, R&D and external to Sanofi.
Influences internally and across Vaccine Industrial Affairs functions; forward thinking with an attitude of collaboration, optimization, efficiency, continuous improvement.
Leads/conducts execution of small scale experiments.
Fosters relationships with partners, experts from other functions and customers in order to achieve technical objectives.
Leading or supporting technical process improvements and portfolio execution.
Proactively resolves conflicts, removes roadblocks to execution within sphere of influence; escalates to functional management when appropriate.
Responsible for defining and managing deliverables and objectives for safe and compliant execution.
Responsible for coaching and mentoring junior personnel and educating / maintaining technical knowledge in workforce.
Master's in Microbiology, biotechnology or biochemistry
5-6 years of technical expertise with virus or bacterial purification, antisera and antibody development in animals, chromatography, running AKTA, HPLC and SRID
Experience in lab management
Terms of employment
The hired candidate will have no direct reports
The candidate will work during normal business hours (8 am-5 pm Monday – Friday), but flexibility if occasional work outside of these hours is necessary
