Sanofi Group Manager, Continuous Improvement Formulation & Filling - Sanofi Pasteur - Vaccine in Swiftwater, Pennsylvania

The Manager for Formulation & Filling, Continuous Improvement for the FFIP business unit (Formulation, Filling, Inspection and Packaging) functions as the main interface between Formulation & Filling and the Technical Community (especially Engineering/Maintenance and ITS). The Manager, Continuous Improvement is responsible to contribute to the operating expense budget of approximately $3M and contributes to the management of the $125M department budget. This position has no direct reports. As part of the organization, this role does the following:

  • Individual contributor role that is member of cross-functional teams that provide support for the FFaST (Focus Factory and Support Team) efforts for the Factory.

  • Provides Continuous Improvement for the Factory.

  • Provides project support for cross functional teams.

  • Provides Factory interface for working through project issues.

  • Provides technical support for the factory.

  • Provide support for Commercialization Projects.     


  • (40%) Provides Continuous Improvement support for the factory. These are small/medium individual projects to improve OEE, Deviations, Yield and Commercialization Projects, etc. This organization will provide project support to accomplish these efforts. These projects may be FFaST projects or managing Commercialization Projects, Change Controls and CAPA’s for the production unit.

  • (20%) Provides Project support. This group will be interface for commercialization projects, technical transfers, engineering projects and similar activities. This group will provide support for the projects, especially for time intensive and major projects.

  • (15%) Provides technical support for component qualification, OEE improvement, and general factory improvements.

  • (10%) Provides general technical support for the Factory.

  • (10%) Ensure efficient and effective operation by creating a proactive environment, developing & monitoring metrics, and communicating with both team members and support functions about operations performance. Utilizing the "+QDCI" Visual Management Systems and Working with the FFIP Management Committee to drive improvements in key metrics.

  • (05%) Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and good documentation practices are followed to provide a safe, quality, and effective product.


  • BS or MS required in Life Sciences or Engineering.

  • 5+ years large scale biotech or pharmaceutical, manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, analytical & process development experience.

  • The individual should have worked with Operations personnel for at least 8 years in a management position with increasing levels of responsibility and have a good understanding of current GMP/GLP, Continuous Improvement methodologies, and common issues addressed to achieve Operational Excellence.

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to actively, and cooperatively work with cross functional teams.
