Sanofi Group Regional Account Director, Market Access, West in Scottsdale, Arizona

This position reports to the Senior Director, Market Access, West and is responsible for establishing and leveraging relationships within all assigned accounts in Colorado and Arizona, which could include the following account types; regional payers, regional specialty pharmacies, regional PBMs, IDNs and state Medicaid agencies to achieve and maintain open and appropriate access for all Sanofi-Genzyme’s specialty products. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of short and long-term business plans that will optimize coverage, coding, and patient access to Sanofi-Genzyme product portfolio.

This individual will be responsible for engaging with key decision makers to manage, assess and positively influence existing and new access positions for assigned Sanofi Genzyme products for the entire specialty product portfolio. This individual will assess business implications of short and long-term actions with each payer customer and move payer decisions in a direction resulting in improved patient access to Sanofi-Genzyme products. The Regional Account Director will demonstrate strong relationships with Trade/Industry Relations, Medical and Pharmacy Directors (clinical and administrative), Case Managers, Medical Benefit Managers, and other key decisions makers within their assigned accounts. The Regional Account Director is expected to work with minimal supervision and possess strategic independent thought.

This individual will work closely with Sanofi-Genzyme Value & Access, Value Creation & Capture, contracting, sales leadership, case management, medical, marketing, regional account management, and government teams to ensure consistent exchange of important payer insights and messaging.

This Regional Account Director will develop and provide periodic market updates to Sanofi Genzyme leadership and other internal teams regarding important payer and health care reform trends and issues.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies and tactics to support formulary placement, reimbursement (coverage, coding, payment and patient access), pathways with assigned payer customers

  • Where applicable, negotiate financially responsible contracts with key managed care stakeholders for appropriate placement of Sanofi Genzyme products on formularies, policies, etc.

  • Support the national account team to develop and communicate clear and effective messaging and pull-through initiatives that will drive successful contract performance

  • Lead the communication, messaging and pull-through of payer initiatives with the sales teams and gain the support and trust from sales leadership

  • Proactively communicate market trends, reimbursement changes, payer policies and billing requirements that may impact product utilization

  • Represent the Market Access organization with professionalism and integrity at external customer meetings and internally within the Sanofi organization

  • Maintain updated and accurate account information in company approved CRM database to capture insights and activities related to Sanofi Genzyme portfolio and near-term pipeline products

  • React with a sense of urgency to resolve time sensitive customer and patient issues, in collaboration with the various Sanofi-Genzyme teams, including Case Managers, Field Reimbursement Teams and others

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Ideally prior Regional Account Director experience and/or a minimum of 8 years field-based pharmaceutical/biotech Sales and/or Marketing experience

  • Experience managing complex large accounts and selling experience at large account management

  • Exceptional communication skills that include verbal, written and platform presentation abilities

  • Demonstrated short term problem-solving and longer-term strategic thinking skills

  • Outstanding consultative selling, networking and relationship building skills

  • Ability to skillfully negotiate in challenging situations with both external and internal customers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s/advanced degree preferred

  • Demonstrated understanding of payer decision-making and timelines for formulary processes, coverage, coding, billing, pathway development and patient access to drugs, biologicals, medical devices

  • Experience negotiating contracts and agreements

  • Therapeutic experience in Multiple Sclerosis, Immunology, Oncology, Rare Diseases and Rare Blood Disorders

  • Experience in Specialty Pharmacy, patient support services and medical benefit products

  • Skill to successfully lead in highly matrixed organization through influence and collaboration with other members across sales, marketing, reimbursement and other business groups to improve overall effectiveness

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time

Role Criteria:

  • Field-based role with travel anticipated to be greater than 50%

  • Candidate must live near a major airport

In Compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, see compensation and benefits below: The base compensation is a minimum $142,500.00 and sales incentive (role may my eligible for long term incentive depending on level and performance); all compensation will be determined commensurate with demonstrated experience.
