Job Summary:

In the changing world of Private Payers, the Manager of Ontario Private Payer Accounts works to shape the reimbursement environment and secure optimal listings for Sanofi products on private insurance plans. They apply past best practices and finds new avenues to demonstrate value for our offerings in a way that creates a positive outcome for both the company and our customers (patients and payers).

They will analyze and understand the Canadian environment and the provincial health policies changes which may impact the private sector. They will assess the needs of customers (Insurances companies, Benefit Consultant, Pharmacy Benefit Managers) and business opportunities in the Canadian private payer sector. They will also develop programs or agreements aimed at expanding current reimbursement for Sanofi Canada products by private payers or maintaining reimbursement in cases where this sector’s reimbursement conditions are modified.

Key Responsibilities and Duties for This Job:

  • Works closely with Public Affairs & Market Access teams and broader External Affairs

  • Analyze trends in the private sector to develop a clear picture of potential scenarios and foresee the consequences for our business.

  • Formulate, recommend and implement innovative and competitive strategies and plans to optimize reimbursement of all Sanofi products.

  • Apply knowledge and understanding of the private payer environment to shape policy decisions that could negatively affect Sanofi business.

  • Manage and develop relations with KOL’s and interest/professional stakeholder groups (e.g., private plan administrators, drug plans, benefit consultants, managers, health care professionals’ and employees’ interest groups) to influence the development of policies and fringe benefit plans and contribute to information gathering and dissemination.

  • Communicate and work closely with the members of the Sanofi communications teams to support the development of bids for reimbursement and optimize communication opportunities.

  • Develop and implement initiatives and policy programs to support key Sanofi positions such as the Sanofi Healthcare Survey

  • Take part in pharmaceutical sector initiatives or working groups (such as those organizing IMC) to create opportunities for a favourable business environment

  • Implement programs in the province of Ontario at the private payer level that are in line with the National strategy

  • Ethical Leadership Including,Taking personal accountability to use personal experience and knowledge, as well as the training and tools provided by Sanofi, to maintain a good knowledge and understanding of all ethics and governance relevant to the role (including the Industry Code of Practice, Sanofi Policies and Procedures and any relevant legal requirements); and demonstrate personal leadership in applying these to all work undertaken. Also includes escalates any decisions, or seek the support of colleagues or management if personal knowledge and understanding is not at the level required to carry out any part of the role

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sciences or administration

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry and private insurance preferred

  • Past experience in a market access role (public, private payer and/or oncology) preferred

  • Experience dealing with health care systems at a national or provincial level

  • Experience in negotiation and/or sales function at an elevated level
