Sanofi Group Associate Bioinformatician - Vaccine in Orlando, Florida
The Global Immunology Department in Sanofi Pasteur’s R&D organization is seeking an Associate Bioinformatician for its Human Immunology platform, which is in Orlando, FL. The ideal candidate will rely on their bioinformatics training to support the analytical needs of multiple research programs designed to evaluate vaccine and drug candidates. This person will be expected to have a background in NGS studies and platform technology, bioinformatics, and a corresponding competency in visualization of diverse data, modeling, and network analysis. Candidates will be expected to have a demonstrated capacity to be a pace-setting bioinformatician, both internally and externally, to the company and tackle technical challenges with new and creative thinking. They will also be expected to interface with researchers, biostatisticians, and bioinformaticians located at various global sites within the organization.
General Duties :
Design and execute Next Generation Sequencing (Illumina platforms) studies under limited supervision.
Implementing and optimize custom NGS protocols from literature.
Work with molecular biology techniques, such as DNA purification, shearing, adapter ligation, PCR, and NGS library purification and quantification.
Demonstrate critical analysis of data and provide interpretation of NGS and OMICs results, risk/issue guidance, and general bioinformatics support to the various project teams.
Prepare work for formal presentations and reports.
Work independently and with a strong spirit of cross-functional cooperation towards achieving the objectives of projects.
Strong communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge and Skill Required :
B.Sc. with 3 years’ experience or a M.Sc. with 1 year experience in computer science/bioinformatics or related field.
Experience with automated platforms (Hamilton STAR/NIMBUS) and sequencing platforms (eg. Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, PacBio, etc.) is highly desired.
Expertise in statistics, including visualization of statistics and big data, modeling, linear and non-linear modeling, network analysis, machine learning, and algorithm development.
Prior experience with analyzing biological and clinical data is preferred.
Expertise in working with RNA, DNA, NGS library generation, and various NGS technologies.
