Sanofi Group Senior Scientist in Framingham, Massachusetts
Sanofi is seeking a focused, creative scientist to study various metabolic disorders including but not limited to lysosomal storage diseases. The scientist will join a highly-matrixed group whose goal is to identify vulnerable pathway points-of-intervention with the aim of exploiting these targets to create medicines. The candidate will design, execute, and interpret laboratory experiments to test hypotheses concerning target validity and associated disease biology. The successful candidate will support ongoing group efforts, and identify, advocate for, and explore new therapeutic opportunities and scientific approaches. He or she will also consider opportunities for expanding the utility of existing high-value Sanofi compounds. The candidate will also identify, internalize, and reduce to practice new techniques as they emerge, and monitor and exploit the current scientific literature. Disciplined decision-making and objective analytical skills are essential for this position. Above all, this position requires strength in experimental execution in order to generate data that forms a solid decision-making foundation. The candidate must be able to work constructively in a collaborative, change-rich environment, champion his or her projects effectively, and disseminate information internally and externally as appropriate
Design in vitro and in vivo target validation studies and, where needed, pursue creative target-seeking strategies for appropriate metabolic diseases.
Communicate the value proposition for his or her project(s) throughout the chain of command.
Interact effectively with colleagues spanning the spectrum of relevant functions throughout the company.
PhD or MS in suitable biology discipline and a minimum of 4 years of laboratory experience.
Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
Technical expertise facilitating development of cellular models of metabolic disease, high-fidelity metabolic-pathway-monitoring scenarios, and in vivo proof-of-concept studies.
Expertise in various mouse techniques such as IV injection, oral gavage, mandibular bleed, and whole-body perfusion.
Organizational skills concerning prioritization, data management, internal and external presentations, and writing.
Fast up-to-speed capabilities regarding disease biology.
Strong publication record.
Ability to effectively advocate for project(s) merit and secure support from relevant decision-makers.
