The Translational Sciences Group in Sanofi strives to generate scientific knowledge that translates into transformative therapies for patients with unmet medical needs. Translational Sciences is building a world-class translational research team that is passionate to contribute to the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for patients. The translational research scientist will work closely with the Head of Translational sciences, USA and group heads, laboratory heads and internal and external partners to ensure the progression of the translational sciences research portfolio and support operational excellence across the group. As a member of the leadership team, the translational research scientist will ensure key portfolio and project reviews, facilitate alignment among key internal and external stakeholders, identify major gaps and roadblocks and work closely with the head of translational sciences to take actions to overcome them. This role will report to the Head of Translational Sciences, US and is expected to have a strong impact on the deliverables of Translational Sciences.
Support the head of translational sciences to collaborate on the strategic development and execution of the translational sciences research portfolio for all therapeutic areas.
Manage the translational sciences leadership team meetings, and strategically set up discussions with head of translational sciences and project heads, teams and program managers, to ensure robust and timely scientific and resourcing review and reporting of feedback to teams and stakeholders.
Have an in-depth understanding of integrative analytics of multi-omics data to support drug discovery and development activities such as biomarker identification with data integration methodologies to enable mining of large complex datasets.
Conduct regular portfolio scientific and progression review analyses, highlight gaps and other issues, propose and implement solutions.
Maintain collaborative relationships with cluster and group heads, project leaders, project managers, research platform representatives, business partners, and key internal and external stakeholders, to advance portfolio projects.
Ensure advance preparation for corporate strategic planning, deep dives/reviews, governance meetings, and support teams in delivering quality presentations.
Prepare and disseminate various forms of communication (emails, slide decks, white papers) for the TS by closely working with Head of translational sciences, targeted at key stakeholders on portfolio project progression and milestones, scientific achievements.
Have deep understanding and help establish collaborations with scientists to develop data infrastructure with analytical pipelines, for implementing novel algorithms to manage and build analytical solutions to accelerate the analyses of proteomics, metabolomics and multi-omics data from various studies.
Organize the necessary activities for the translational sciences head of US office to ensure operational excellence, including in areas of HR, finance and other business partners; identify roadblocks, propose and implement solutions by effectively coordinating TA colleagues and partners across the organization.
Collaborate with business development colleagues and scientific experts to advance the Translational Science’s innovation strategy.
Work with Translational Sciences leadership team to support to organize and maintain SharePoint/Teams app, plan and execute key internal stakeholder meetings, prepare minutes, and ensure follow-up of action plans.
Meet project teams and colleagues informally, maintaining lines of communication, and providing constructive feedback.
Together with TA colleagues, oversee the TA internal and external budget, and work with Finance and group Heads to ensure financial targets are met.
Conduct ad-hoc initiatives on behalf of Head of Head of Translational Sciences US.
Help evaluate new technologies to streamline and improve the efficiency of the workflows for translational sciences research activities.
Help the teams, when needed, in preparing publications, research and clinical and/or regulatory documentation in accordance with Sanofi quality standards. Author technical reports, study protocols and manuscripts for publication; present at internal and external meetings and conferences.
MS and/or Ph.D. in Genetics, Biochemistry, Immunology, Biostatistics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Computational Biology or relevant life science scientific area experience.
Experience in working in drug discovery from research to leading teams in employing genomics, genetics, data science and computational biology space for 10 years, preferably in a well-recognized drug discovery and development setting.
Demonstrated leadership experience of up to 5 years in leading projects in a matrixed team to contribute to drug discovery and development programs utilizing genomics, genetics, computational biology and other relevant resources.
Experience in the ability to develop hypotheses from multi-dimensional data for genotype-phenotype relationships in human populations.
Proficiency in explaining complex challenges in drug discovery to a number of translational research scientists and analytical experts.
Broad knowledge in translational approaches for target credentialing, biomarkers and indication selection.
Knowledge of basic biostatistics, and one or more therapeutic areas.
The ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, communicate clearly and effectively and build open and collaborative relationships is essential.
Strong interested in biology and caring for developing novel therapeutic intervention strategies for patients with unmet disease conditions, and an ability to liaise with scientists from multiple therapy areas.
Highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Desire to function independently and successfully in a cross-functional, matrix-based research organization.
Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment and demonstrate attention to detail and record-keeping.

10+ years of experience in biopharma Research and development, preferably in a global organization.
Successful track record of developing project plans and managing execution and teams in a complex organizational setting.
M.S. required; Ph.D. in life sciences or complimentary field desired, with a strong track record of publications and/or patents.
Demonstrated experience in working in matrixed environment.
Experience in leading and/or significantly contributing to projects in a small team of PhD and MS level scientist to contribute to drug discovery and development programs.
An impactful publication track record and an ability publish novel findings in a clear and systematic way.
Ability to contribute to developing and executing a translational research strategy with an ability to contribute to strategic execution.
