POSITION OVERVIEW:

Manufacturing Sciences and Technology is responsible for development, scale-up, transfer, and characterization of purification processes for commercial manufacturing of therapeutic proteins from a mammalian cell culture production platform. In addition, the department develops next generation bioprocessing and process development technologies such as integrated and continuous bioprocessing, high throughput process development, and mechanistic modeling of bioprocesses. The department also works to support a global purification network.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are looking for candidates for the position of Associate Scientist. This individual should be able to use scientific principles and professional practices to solve a wide range of challenges, while ensuring that the highest standards of safety, environmental and regulatory compliance are maintained in the workplace.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Ability to work under moderate supervision and function within a collaborative/team-oriented environment.

  • 80% benchwork and 20% analyzing data and presenting results

  • Participate in various stages of protein purification including process characterization from early development to regulatory filings

  • Collaborate with MSAT and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot, design and optimize experiments, and provide hands-on support

  • Effectively communicate results through written reports and oral presentations across various organizational levels

  • Actively review literature and propose innovative solutions

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS/MS in Chemical engineering, biology, chemistry, or closely related discipline with 2-5 years’ experience.

Required:

  • Growth mindset with ability to learn new techniques and adapt to changing priorities

  • Must have good organizational, record keeping and safe working environmental skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Must have permanent US work authorization

Desired:

  • Downstream protein processing experience using AKTA

  • Experience with affinity, SEC, IEX, HIC, HPLC and/or SDS-PAGE

  • Experience with automation of protein production/therapeutics

  • Experience with design of experiments (DOE) using statistical analysis
