Senior Associate Scientist – Renal and Musculoskeletal Diseases
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to join a team of researchers developing new therapies for rare musculoskeletal diseases. The position is based in Framingham, MA, within the Renal and Musculoskeletal Cluster of the Rare and Neurological Diseases Research Therapeutic Area at Sanofi. The candidate will execute, with moderate supervision, in vitro and in vivo pre-clinical pharmacology and mechanism-of-action studies in models of musculoskeletal disorders to support the progress of gene therapy, biologics and small molecule drug discovery programs. The Senior Associate Scientist will generate, analyze and present data of high-quality to project teams and will be expected to maintain laboratory documentation in accordance to Sanofi’s standards. Experience with modern techniques for the analysis of protein expression and function is highly desirable.
Works collaboratively as part of a research team that discovers and develops novel therapeutic agents for rare musculoskeletal disorders
Conducts experiments in multiple in vivo and in vitro biological systems relevant to musculoskeletal disorders
Follows directives in an expeditious manner to aggressively achieve goals within the expected timelines
Regularly presents at project team and departmental meetings
May contribute to the preparation of publications, intellectual property, research and clinical/regulatory documentation in accordance with the quality standards established by Sanofi
Commits to operational excellence according to the values and ethics expected of every employee at Sanofi
Qualifications and skills:
Bachelor Degree in molecular biology or related field with 3+ or Master Degree with 1+ years of experience, respectively, in an industrial or academic research laboratory
Hands-on experience with protein extraction from subcellular compartments (i.e. lysosome, cell membrane, nucleus), whole cells, and tissues
Experience with immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence techniques for the analysis of protein expression and localization in cell cultures or tissue sections by wide field and/or confocal microscopy
Proficiency in recombinant DNA technologies, PCR- and qPCR, CRISPR/Cas9 gene knockout and shRNA/miRNA gene knockdown techniques.
Experience with aseptic techniques for the culture of primary cells and cell lines
Competence with use of software for statistical analysis and slide presentation
Familiarity with laboratory automation would be an advantage over similarly qualified candidates
