Sanofi Group Scientist Cell Line Development in Framingham, Massachusetts

Position Overview:

The Genomic Medicine Unit (GMU) CMC group at Sanofi is dedicated to the establishment of best-in-class manufacturing platforms to support development of life-changing advanced cell and gene therapy products. We seek a highly motivated candidate to join Cell Line Development (CLD), as part of a team focused on cell line generation activities for Sanofi’s Genomic Medicine Unit (GMU) pipeline. The person in this role will work in a high-performing, fast-paced collaborative environment, developing producer cell lines expressing viral vectors for gene therapy and supporting efforts to optimize our future producer cell line viral vector platform. Work will directly support development projects within Sanofi’s pipeline. The GMU CLD group is currently operational in Framingham, MA and will relocate to the newly designed lab space in Waltham, MA in 2022.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently plan and lead the execution of AAV producer cell line development work packages to meet deliverables for preclinical and clinical development projects; align with other functional areas to achieve goals according to project timelines.

  • Prepare development reports and technical presentations to communicate progress and data within the function and to project teams.

  • Represent CLD function as member of project teams.

  • Prepare documentation for regulatory submissions.

  • Contribute to the design, execution and analysis of studies to optimize AAV viral vector production.

  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, develop associated procedures for characterizing and screening cell lines, collaborating as needed to efficiently advance our technologies and platforms.

  • Compliance with all applicable regulations, ensure that work performed is conducted in a safe and compliant manner, maintenance of proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD in Biology, Cell Biology, Bioengineering, Virology or related discipline or Master’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience.

  • Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture.

  • Strong technical background and experience in viral vector production, preferably recombinant AAV vectors.

  • Self-motivated with excellent organization, time-management and communication skills.

  • Experience leading projects or project sub-teams and/or managing contract research org (CRO) relationships.

  • Demonstrated ability to work as member of a team and adhere to timelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Suspension mammalian cell culture experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting

  • Experience with automation and/or high throughput technologies as applied to mammalian cell line generation

  • Experience in mammalian gene expression systems, gene editing and/or ‘omics technologies

  • Flexibility and a willingness to expand skill set and responsibilities, and excel in a past-faced highly cooperative team environment, multitask, adaptability.
