Sanofi Group Scientist, Cell Line Development Skill Center in Framingham, Massachusetts

Job Responsibilities/Department Description:

The Cell Line Development Skill Center is seeking a motivated, full time employee to join a high-performing, collaborative team working on different aspects of CHO cell line development. Responsibilities will focus on flow cytometry sorting and analysis for both cell line development projects and platform innovation/technology development projects. Work will directly support development projects within Sanofi Biopharmaceutics R&D and technology innovation for cell line development.

Position Overview/Key Responsibilities:

  • This position will support new and existing flow cytometer users and will involve sample preparation, acquisition and analysis, and routine laboratory duties including: preventative maintenance of flow cytometers, ordering of flow cytometry supplies, maintaining cell lines as flow cytometric controls, general lab upkeep, and daily/weekly quality control checks.

  • Operate and maintain flow cytometers dedicated to CHO cell line development activities and platform optimization initiatives. (BD Influx, BD FACSCalibur, and BD FACSCelesta)

  • Aseptically sort CHO cells to generate bulk enriched populations and/or single cell clones that will be used for recombinant protein production.

  • Perform cell culture passage and maintenance of recombinant CHO cell lines.

  • Design and execute experiments and analyze data to support platform development activities which aim to reduce overall timelines while improving cell line productivity and product quality.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, ability to learn new principles quickly, with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

  • Flexibility, adjusting to a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment and willingness to expand and broaden skillset.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum BS with 8+ years relevant experience or MS with 5+ years relevant experience required. PhD with 0-2 years of relevant experience in Biology, Cellular Biology, ImmunoBiology or equivalent industry experience, preferably in Cellular Biology preferred.

  • Knowledge of flow cytometric procedures and techniques is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in operating sorters and analytic flow cytometric instruments with a working knowledge of acquisition and data analysis software (CellQuest Pro, FlowJo, SoftMaxĂ’ Pro, Diva).

  • Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture techniques within the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
