Sanofi Group Process Engineer III in Framingham, Massachusetts

Position Overview:

The Process Engineer III works in the Bioprocess Engineering & Data Analytics group to improve bioprocesses through experimental work coupled with digital simulations for better process understanding and manufacturability of biologics.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform experimental studies to quantify heat/mass transfer, mixing and other process aspects seen in bioprocessing scenarios.

  • Support process characterization, design, change, and technology transfer.

  • Develop first-principles model of biotech processes, for example bioreactor operation, for improved digital process control and optimization.

  • Support development of digital modeling & simulation, and data analysis tools for better process understanding.

  • Collaborate with other groups, including Manufacturing, and Development groups.

Basic qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering, or related engineering disciplines with 5 years of relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry

OR

Master’s Degree or equivalent in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering, or related engineering disciplines with 3 years of relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry

OR

Doctor’s Degree or equivalent in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering, or related engineering disciplines understanding core concepts in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry

Preferred qualifications:

  • Multidisciplinary knowledge of wide range of scientific and engineering principles is highly desirable.

· Highly motivated individual with the ability to work independently and on cross-functional and cross-site teams.

· Basic understanding of biologics manufacturing.

· Experience with data analysis and/or scientific programming (Matlab, R, Python) highly desirable.

· Strong technical writing and presentation skills.

Terms of Employment:

The Process Engineer III is an individual contributor role with no direct reporting responsibilities, yet the candidate must be able to lead projects independently. Standard business hours apply, routine travel is not expected.

The group uses highly specialized, deep expertise in process understanding, modeling & simulation, and data analytics.
