Sanofi Group Principal Scientist, Laboratory Head in Framingham, Massachusetts
Sanofi is searching for a Lab Head in the Rare & Neurological Disease Research Therapeutic Area who will develop cutting-edge therapeutics for rare genetic diseases, including metabolic, renal, muscle, and lysosomal storage disorders. We are seeking a scientific innovator with demonstrated expertise in either lysosomal biology, autophagy, oxidative stress, lipid, sphingolipid, amino acid or carbohydrate/proteoglycan/glycosaminoglycan metabolism, muscle diseases or renal biology. The successful candidate will have a robust publication track record in leading journals and presentations at national and international meetings.
The Lab Head will advance portfolio projects, manage a small group of scientists and technical staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary platform groups. He/she will identify and validate new therapeutic targets using human genetics, bioinformatics, and preclinical in vitro and in vivo models of disease. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and implementing new models and technologies. The Lab Head will also be responsible for communicating their research results through presentations, publications, and patents.
Support the Rare & Neuroscience Therapeutic Area strategy by identifying new targets and advancing projects in the current pipeline.
Implementation of multiple state-of-the-art techniques in molecular and cell biology, and imaging.
Lead scientists and technical staff experienced in a range of disciplines, from molecular and cell biology, neuropharmacology, histopathology, and behavioral phenotyping to develop a deep mechanistic understanding of disease pathogenesis.
Publish cutting edge science and develop key collaborations around the globe.
Ph.D. in molecular/cell biology or physiology, neuroscience, pharmacology or related discipline, with 4+ years postdoctoral fellowship training.
Experience leading research teams in an academic or industry setting preferred.
Deep expertise and outstanding record of publications in rare genetic diseases and/or related fields.
Expertise in cutting-edge approaches in cell biology, transcriptomics, lipidomics, metabolomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, data mining and other approaches to identify and validate new targets.
Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: small molecule drug discovery, targeted drug or protein or nucleic acid delivery, in vivo monitoring of metabolite flux.
Outstanding communication, management and interpersonal skills.
