Sanofi Group Lab Head, Gene Therapy Research, Rare and Neurologic Diseases Therapeutic Area in Framingham, Massachusetts
We are seeking a Lab Head to lead a team focused on AAV capsid engineering. The successful candidate will provide innovative scientific leadership and play a pivotal role in the Gene Therapy Research group in identifying novel AAV capsids to enable gene therapy programs from early discovery research through development, in a variety of disease areas including neuromuscular, CNS, metabolic and renal. .
Specifically, the remit of the candidate will be to :
Develop a novel strategy for the directed evolution of AAV capsids
Directly manage a group of scientists within the Gene Therapy research group, and apply their people management skills to continue to develop the culture of teamwork, and collaboration.
Strong presentation and communication skills, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment will be vital
Ph.D. or equivalent in a field of biology / biochemistry
Background/experience in AAV gene therapy / capsid engineering preferred
Demonstrated experience and expertise with both in vitro and in vivo studies
Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications supporting their research programs
Possess excellent communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both internally (project meetings, executive forums, etc.) and externally (advisory boards, conferences, etc.) representing programs and project teams with accuracy and objectivity.
The successful candidate should have a broad understanding of all phases of research and the drug development process, with at least 5-10 years of experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
