Sanofi Group HSE Business Systems Manager-Framingham, MA in Framingham, Massachusetts

The Health Safety and Environmental group (HSE) is responsible for implementing programs and policies that comply with all local, state and federal HSE rules and regulations and continuously strive to reduce the incidence and severity of occupational injury and illness. The HSE department promotes a safe and environmentally friendly work environment through the integration of value added EHS programs, policies and services.

POSITION OVERVIEW/KEY R ESPONSIBILITIES*:

The HSE Business Systems Manager is responsible for interfacing with all levels of the organization to ensure necessary and sustainable HSE systems, programs, procedures, training, work practices, and controls are developed and implemented to maintain compliance with applicable HSE Systems and address identified risks.

Key Functions:

  • Develop, modify, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures to maintain compliance and improve HSE performance.

  • Develop and maintain the site HSE Maturity Model and set appropriate goals and objectives for individual Departments. Develop and maintain an effective tracking mechanism to assist Departments meet these goals and objectives.

  • Participate in establishing and tracking department goals that will positively impact and add value to the organization. Determine objectives and effectively manage projects in support of goals.

  • Establish and maintain HSE systems for: Safe Work Program tracking; Site and Department Risk Assessment and PASS planning; sCAPA; SOR and HSE Event Reporting.

  • Develop, mentor, and lead HSE staff including the management of work teams to achieve project objectives and department goals.

  • Actively participate in the site’s +QDCI process and take a leadership role in the site’s Governance process. Influence HSE policy and strategy such that is in alignment with the needs of the business.

  • Liaise with other sites to ensure continuity of HSE systems at the network level.

  • Manage the HSE training system to ensure effective training of staff at all levels of the organization that is commensurate with expected competencies.

  • Position the site to obtain certifications to applicable HSE Management System Standards. Evaluate the impact of new or changed certification standards, on operations. Initiate and oversee updates to HSE policies, programs and procedures.

  • Participate in department budget preparation and tracking. Ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

  • Provide subject matter expertise for HSE Management Systems activities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7-10 years of HSE experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Solid knowledge of HSE Systems with a proven track record in the implementation of HSE systems and programs.

  • Demonstrated history of obtaining and maintaining certification to ISO/OHSA Management Systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree

  • Understanding of performance monitoring and the use of metrics.

  • Experience in risk assessment implementation and management.

  • Experience in development and implementation of HSE training and communication plans.

  • Industry Certifications: such as ISO 14000, OHSA 18000 or ISO 50000 Lead Auditor,

  • More than 2 years’ experience managing HSE staff.

  • 1-3 years’ experience working in a GMP environment.

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written formats to a wide variety of audiences.

  • Ability to solve high level, complex problems and arrive at sound conclusions using available data.

  • Skilled at determining and obtaining needed information for effective decision making.

  • Strong organizational skills.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the business.

  • Ability to gown to gain entry to manufacturing space.
