Your job, as 2024 Co-Op, Upstream MSAT within our Global MSAT Team, will work in the upstream process development group of the drug substance function in Specialty Care Manufacturing Science and Analytical Technology (MSAT). The co-op will work in a laboratory setting on a project related to on-line monitoring of mammalian cell culture using Raman spectroscopy for perfusion process development. This position is 6 months on a full-time basis July 2024 – December 2024.

Main responsibilities:

  • Operate perfusion bioreactors.

  • collect and run cell culture samples in multiple instruments for cell counting and metabolites.

  • set up, maintain and troubleshoot Raman equipment (transmitter, probes), etc.

  • collaborate with SMEs to build the models using online Raman data.

  • Update the team during regular meeting and give a presentation at the end of the project.

About you

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s (sophomore year or higher) or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related discipline.

  • Experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry laboratory setting.

  • Basic understanding of cell culture processes and bioreactor operations.

  • Experience in statistical analysis, preferably experience using statistical software JMP or similar.

  • Experience in data-driven modelling.

  • Experience in scripting and familiarity with process controllers like MFCS and DELTA-V.

  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
