Sanofi Group Senior Microbiologist in Chattanooga, Tennessee
Sanofi Consumer Healthcare US (formerly Chattem) is a leading marketer and manufacturer of a broad portfolio of branded over-the-counter (OTC) healthcare products, in such categories as allergy, upper and lower gastrointestinal, skin care, topical pain care, oral care and other OTC toiletry products. The US CHC portfolio includes well-recognized brands such as: Allegra, Nasacort, Xyzal, Dulcolax, Gold Bond, Cortizone-10, Icy Hot, Aspercreme, Rolaids, ACT, Unisom, and Selsun Blue.
Perform microbiological testing to support manufacturing activities in compliance with established specifications and FDA cGMPs. Evaluate test data and utilize professional judgment to decide on appropriate responses.
All duties delineated below as directed by or under the purview of the Manager, Microbiological Services and in conformance to cGMP’s or laboratory SOP’s as appropriate. Microbial Content Testing; Identification of microbial isolates; Antimicrobial Effectiveness Testing; Environmental monitoring; Validation studies; Maintain microbial cultures.
Evaluate test results against specifications and determine accept/reject status. Conduct investigations related to microbiological issues and develop corrective/preventative actions as necessary.
Accurately prepare and maintain records, documents and reports in accordance with Good Documentation Practices. Maintain and update microbiological procedures and methods in accordance with USP and FDA regulatory compliance.
Maintain laboratory supply inventories and ensure laboratory equipment is maintained and calibrated. Maintain a safe, clean work environment and adhere to all policies and procedures.
Observe and comply with cGMP/cGLP requirements
Manage laboratory operations in the absence of the Manager, Microbiological Services.
Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Microbiological Services.
Bachelor of Science in Microbiology or related biological science.
5-7 years experience in a cGMP laboratory environment.
Advanced degree in Microbiology or related biological science.
5-7 years experience in an OTC, cGMP microbiology laboratory environment.
Experience with Ditek identification system

Full time position.
8am-5pm Monday – Friday
Occasional weekend work may be required.
