Packaging Maintenance Technician
Sanofi Consumer Healthcare US (formerly Chattem) is a leading marketer and manufacturer of a broad portfolio of branded over-the-counter (OTC) healthcare products, in such categories as allergy, upper and lower gastrointestinal, skin care, topical pain care, oral care and other OTC toiletry products. Responsible for the maintenance and reliability of automated packaging equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and cGMP compliant operation.
- Provide troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of the following equipment and systems:
Automated high-speed pharmaceutical packaging equipment including bottle and tube fillers, thermoformers, cartoners, checkweighers, bundlers, case packers, and palletizers.
Mechanical systems and components including conveyors, pumps, valves, pneumatics, bearings, seals, and power transmission system components such as gearboxes, belt, and chain drives.
The use of shop machinery including mills, lathes, drill presses, and normal industrial tools for repair purposes.
Provide high level of knowledge working with electricity and electrical equipment such as, variable frequency drives, plc’s, servo motors, linear and rotary encoders, 4-20 mA process loops.
+The use of analog and digital meters for troubleshooting various equipment and process loops.
+Tracing electrical circuits with the use of electrical schematics.
+Updating any changes made on the electrical schematic as well as providing documentation of those changes for GMP compliance.
+Troubleshooting programmable logic controllers up to and including uploading and downloading programs. Making changes to code or logic when necessary. Maintain up to date records of any changes in a plc logbook for future reference and GMP compliance.
Support the Preventive Maintenance program by performing PM activities and assisting in continuous program improvement.
Support Engineering projects for both new equipment installations and improvements to existing installations.
Safely perform work, including adherence to policies such as lock-out / tag-out, confined space entry, arc flash, and electrical safety.
Facilitate coordination of OEM services and parts with Maintenance Planning and Parts departments.
Required (One or more of the below requirements)
2+ years demonstrated experience performing maintenance and repairs of automated packaging or similar high-speed equipment.
Training/Education from a technical trade school college or university in the field of maintenance. Automation, mechatronics, electrical, electronic/plc fields.
5+ years demonstrated experience performing maintenance and repairs of automated packaging equipment.
Electrical License and willingness to maintain license while employed by Sanofi.
Experience in a GMP / cGMP manufacturing environment.
Terms of Employment
Experience plus technical training/education is key.
The hired candidate will be available to work overtime when needed
The hired candidate if requested will be willing to help cover shifts other than that normally worked in the event of other absences
