Overview

Under supervision from the Inventory Control Manager and Inventory Control Team Leader, the primary responsibility of the position is to ensure inventory accuracy through the cycle counting of inventories, reporting discrepancies, and posting approved counts at all sites where inventories are warehoused, consistent with good business practices. Must retain proper records that support the counts and maintain reports which verify the timeliness and scope of the counts. Position will support the Inventory Control Analysts by cycle counting finished goods and componentry in order to reconcile inventory discrepancies and work order variances and assist with various other inventory transactions.

Scope of Resposibilities

  • Responsible for cycle counting inventory in the local warehouses to ensure that all required items and locations are counted in a timely and orderly manner.

  • Provide specific counts as directed for troubleshooting inventory status.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records supporting the individual counts.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records documenting timeliness and ensuring that all required items and locations have been counted.

  • Daily will contact the Finance designee to obtain the location range to be counted.

  • Daily will notify the appropriate warehouse personnel of the selected area.

  • Will properly identify with cones and/or signage the area currently being counted.

  • Will use the JDE system to select and review the items for count; print the appropriate item sheet and count sheet; post the counts; manually review variances; perform recounts when appropriate; enter the counts into JDE system; review the count variances; and post the count. The system will be reviewed to ensure the counts posted accurately.

  • Will perform monthly random cycle counts for items selected by the Finance Department.

  • Will interact with Chattem and various outside auditors who audit the cycle count process and counts monthly.

  • Will perform a monthly cycle count of the Tranco warehouse.

  • Will assist the Inventory Control Manager or designee with monthly Allegra D cycle counts and quarterly high value cycle counts.

  • Will perform or assist as necessary in any special physical inventory counts.

  • Will obtain necessary signature approvals for cycle count variances.

  • Will maintain accurate inventory records and backup documentation. Will keep appropriate records on hand for established timelines and submit when necessary to the Inventory Control Department for proper filing and storage.

Required Qualifications

Minimum educational requirements – high school diploma or GED.

Must be able to obtain a forklift certification.

Ability to work at heights of approximately 40 feet with proper safety harness and equipment.

Must have good written and verbal communication skills and excellent math and analytical skills.

Must be able work independently and in a team.

Desired Qualifications

Prior experience in inventories of a warehouse or manufacturing environment.

Basic knowledge of Excel and JDE system is a plus.
