Sanofi Group Senior Principal Scientist, Lab Head in Cambridge, Massachusetts

POSITION OVERVIEW

Sanofi Immuno-Oncology Therapeutic Area is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual with deep knowledge in immunology and drug development experience as a Senior Principal Scientist. This individual will lead a team responsible for developing multi-specific immuno-therapeutics for solid tumor indications. The position is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. The successful candidate will support progression of existing programs, and he/she is expected to develop new projects and contribute to the growth of Immuno-Oncology portfolio.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Manage a team of scientists and lead cross-functional research teams, ensuring timely progression of projects from early concepts to FIH

  • Demonstrate innovation in research and understanding of clinical translation

  • Identify gaps in knowledge or expertise in Immuno-Oncology and work towards improvements

  • Develop clear scientific strategies to support departmental goals and set direction for the group

  • Keep to-to-date with development in the field, including basic research, clinical development and competitive landscape

  • Manage 3-4 direct reports in a professional manner, provide effective mentorship and lead by example

  • Allocate resources appropriately to ensure overall performance within the group

Basic Qualifications :

  • Ph.D. in Immunology, Immuno-Oncology or related discipline

  • A minimum of 7 years of post-graduate research experience with a deep knowledge of basic immunological mechanisms and tumor immunology

  • Prior experience in Immuno-Oncology antibody-based drug development is strongly preferred

  • Solid track record of independent research accomplishments in Immuno-Oncology or related discipline, as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals

  • Hands-on experience in isolation and immune phenotyping of murine and human immune populations (e.g. cell sorting, flow cytometry) and functional assessment of immune subsets in standard immunological assays and techniques (e.g. CTL assay, cell proliferation, apoptosis, cytokine/chemokine measurement)

  • Expert knowledge of various murine tumor models including isolation and characterization of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, cytokine measurement and other relevant techniques

  • A familiarity with next generation sequencing approaches for immune phenotyping and ability to collaborate with genomics/bioinformatics group in study design and data interpretation

  • The ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and lead others

  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work independently
