Sanofi Group Senior Principal Scientist, Immunology Research Therapeutic Area in Cambridge, Massachusetts
The Immunology and Inflammation Research Therapeutic Area in Sanofi is building a world-class immunology team and is seeking highly motivated scientists to lead projects evaluating novel therapies in the fields of Immune Checkpoint Biology regulating adaptive and innate immunity to treat autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Principal Scientist to join the Checkpoint Immunology Cluster located in Cambridge, MA. This position will lead the new drug discovery project from the early stage to the identification of clinical candidate. The position will also champion the innovation effort in the Checkpoint Immunology cluster for the identification and validation of new therapeutic targets by working internally and collaborating with academic or other external partners. The successful candidate will have deep expertise in immunology, disease biology, demonstrate track of record in leading scientific and/or drug discovery effort, excellent oral and written communication skills. This exciting role will afford a successful candidate the opportunity to lead the innovation effort, the early discovery research and pre-clinical development.
Senior Principal Scientist will be reporting directly to the Head of Checkpoint Immunology Cluster within Immunology & Inflammation Therapeutic Area. This position will play a leadership role in establishing and executing the strategy to bring to the clinic therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. This position is expected to champion the innovation effort in Checkpoint Immunology cluster for the discovery of next generation therapy.
Lead the drug discovery effort of Checkpoint therapeutic projects, develop and implement strategies and manage research programs in autoimmune and inflammatory disorders.
Champion the innovation effort for new target identification and validation through internal work as well as collaboration with academic institutes or biotech/pharmaceutical companies.
Responsible for applying scientific expertise and judgement to initiate, design, direct and execute preclinical study experiments and/or studies in support of research and/or development project goals in a time sensitive manner.
Act as an impactful contributor and leader of project teams and transverse and cross-functional initiatives.
Work across R&D organization to test and advance innovative projects, hypotheses and methodologies; encourages curiosity and challenges the status quo in order to foster innovation.
Enable productivity, execution with a sense of urgency, teamwork, accountability, scientific rigor and excellence.
Foster a culture of employee growth and development.
PhD plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant academic research or industrial experience.
Leading-edge knowledge of Checkpoint Immunology including co-inhibitory/-stimulatory pathway, T/B cell biology or innate immunity and relevant experience in the immunology/inflammation related disease areas.
The experience in target identification using genetic, transcriptomics or other bioinformatics analysis is desirable.
Recognized as an outstanding scientist and subject matter expert/innovator in the field. Outstanding track record of scientific publications, presentations, patents, projects as a leading contributor or senior author.
Excellent track record of project impact as a key contributor.
Applies technical, functional and industry knowledge to design and execute projects that shape the strategic direction of the group.
Hands-on manager and experienced leader that exercises foresight and judgement in planning, organizing and guiding complex projects. Track record of successfully applying high- level scientific judgement in a variety of complex situations.
Flexibility to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines and ability to lead others through change in a dynamic, fast paced industry and work environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: impactful oral and written communication.
