Sanofi Group Project Leader Translational Sciences in Cambridge, Massachusetts
Utilization of translational medicine is one of the key objectives of Sanofi’s Research & Development (R&D). Innovative IT solutions and services are paramount to achieve this goal. This position will be managing the IT projects to deliver such solutions and services (including by not limited to the DTR program) to key business stakeholders in translational medicine and in translational informatics worldwide.
As part of a global IS R&D team, you will be leading projects from different R&D domains including, but not limited to, data science and data analytics. The position will be primarily responsible of:
Coordination and Supervision - Coordinates, manages and monitors the workings of various IS projects in the ITS R&D organization. Acts as a liaison between business users and implementation team, communicating appropriately and effectively with co-workers, customers and supervisors, maintaining awareness of project status and any potential delay, situation or concern that may affect the outcome of the project.
Lead Project Implementation – Facilitates the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables. Defines project tasks and resource requirements. Implements projects with a strategic purpose, adhering to quality standards and procedures through the project lifecycle.
Innovatively advise R&D teams regarding new or existing IT technology, solutions and standards of the industry
Requirements & Qualifications
University degree in an IT or scientific field (i.e. Bioinformatics, Medicine Informatics, Biology)
An expertise to translate scientific requirements from translational sciences into value-added IT-solutions is a must have
Required knowledge and/or experience
Proven track record of successfully conducted projects as Project Manager
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of staff—executive, management and staff—both written and verbally
Leadership Skills: Ability to lead small transversal and/or cross-functional teams of experts for successfully implementing software solutions for our research data scientists
Strong project management skills including: Budget planning and spending, task planning, delegation and follow-up, communication of results, any certification (e.g. PMP, PMI, PRINCE2 etc.) is a plus
Broad Expertise in state-of-the-art IT technologies especially in the field of advanced analytics and data engineering:
Data Architecture and Cloud Computing basics
Good notions of ETL/Datawarehouse (e.g. Talend/Informatica, AWS Glue/ Redshift)
Big Data Integration and Processing (e.g. Hadoop, Spark) with SQL/NoSQL Databases (e.g. MongoDB)
Machine Learning basic understandings (e.g. Tensorflow, MLlib)
Statistics software and programming language (e.g. R, python, SAS)
Scientific expertise in Translational Medicine and/or Bioinformatics, e.g.:
Targets finding and validation
OMICS / Next Gen Sequencing workflows management
Ability to understand pathway analysis software
Curiosity and innovative mind set: openness to learn in a fast-pace environment
Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with good organizational, follow-up, computer, and analytical skills
Ability to conduct oneself professionally, maintaining confidence, confidentiality, integrity and objectivity
Passion for learning and staying on top of current IT technologies in advanced analytics
Experience in the support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of IT systems and processes would be a plus
Experience in working in Pharma/Biotech company would be a plus

This position has no direct report.
Based on the project context, travels might be required to the various R&D locations of Sanofi in North America (Boston area, Swiftwater/PA, Toronto), France (Paris, Lyon, Montpellier and Strasbourg) or Germany (Frankfurt).
