Sanofi Group Principal Scientist, Oncology Bioinformatics in Cambridge, Massachusetts
We seek an experienced computational biologist / data scientist with expertise in cancer genomic data analysis. This role will work with our Molecular Oncology group to identify targets and advance programs that block drivers of tumor growth, drug resistance and immune invasion. You will use large scale patient genomic datasets to identify targets in tumors with high unmet medical need, identify indications and likely patient subsets for drug candidates, and develop and implement biomarker strategies to select patients and assess drug action.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Integrate multiple data sources including patient mutation and transcriptome profiling, functional genomic screening results, and proteomic datasets to identify new cancer targets for defined patient populations
Collaborate with laboratory and in vivo scientists to design, analyze and interpret experiments to validate targets, understand compound mechanism of action, and identify biomarkers for patient selection and target engagement
Collaborate with clinical programs to implement biomarker hypotheses and perform back-translation analyses in Sanofi clinical trials
Participate in consortium projects for cancer patient profiling and target identifications such as Immucan and OpenTargets
Education and experience:
- Ph.D. in computational, statistical, biophysics, bioinformatics, or a related field with emphasis on biological data analysis
A minimum of 5 years pharmaceutical or biotech experience in bioinformatics focused on oncology, immunology, or a related field
Expertise in analyzing cancer genomics datasets including common reference datasets such as TCGA
Expertise in bioinformatic analysis of cancer signaling pathways and driver mutations
Specific skills and competencies:
An ideal candidate will be collaborative, self-directed and possess;
Demonstrated expertise in Oncology or Immune-Oncology
Familiarity with standard methods for bioinformatic data analysis and reference datasets for gene expression, mutations, and related platforms
Familiarity with cloud computing for data processing and analysis
Proficiency in bioinformatic analysis using R or Python
Demonstrated contributions to multi-disciplinary collaborations
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated expertise in the areas of clinical genomic analysis and multi-omic data integration
