Job Summary

The Principal Program Manager, Global Medical Affairs Rare Disease will be responsible for managing Rare Disease Diagnostic team activities and also providing therapeutic area support. The person in this role will work closely with the Director of Diagnostics and Scientific Affairs to plan, execute, track and complete various internal and external projects. The role involves cross-functional as well as global activities that include program management, coordination and facilitation of meetings, issue resolution, tracking of risks and resources and monitoring financial spend.

It is important that this candidate has a clinical laboratory background– such as implementation of testing in a CLIA certified laboratory environment, as well as project management experience. The position will be leading and implementing projects while building strong and collaborative partnerships. In addition, the candidate will be a proactive player with keen technical skills adept in process improvement and clear communication skills. Previous experience with CRO management, including vendor identification, management and set up, including contracting and day to data operational management, is desired.

This candidate will focus mainly on the diagnostics side (70% of the time), but also support various projects and programs in including Rare Disease therapeutic area.

Specific duties (non-exhaustive list):

  • Serve as Rare Disease Diagnostic activities PM; the responsibilities include coordination of all ongoing activities, supporting Global MD of Diagnostics, and interacting with regional diagnostics leads, liaising with CROs, monitoring budgets etc.

  • Building and maintaining strong collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders;

  • Engagement of stakeholders, ensuing cross functional alignment and clear communications across medical affairs to respond to critical business needs while optimizing decision making.

  • Developing program proposals that meet technical requirements, including the estimation of project schedules and budgets.

  • Detailed project management of multidisciplinary project teams using best practice tools and techniques

Basic Qualifications

  • BS required, advanced scientific degree is a plus

  • The ideal candidate will have a background in project management and preferably scientific background

  • At least 2 years project/program management experience in pharmaceutical/device industry

  • Ability to lead project execution plans, implement strategy into tactical plans

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of program/project management software

  • Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration coordinating cross-functional teams (matrix environment) while securing agreed deliverables in due time, quality and budget

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, planning, and oral & written communication skills

  • Domestic and international travel may be required (up to 10%)
