Sanofi Group Manager, Global Chief Scientific Office in Cambridge, Massachusetts

In close collaboration with the Global Head of Research and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and his leadership team, The Research Management Office (RMO) role is to f acilitate the execution of the Research strategy , monitor progression of Research objectives, identify roadblocks and support the teams to address the issues with the proposition, design and implementation of global research initiatives/working groups and lead or contribute to critical projects in collaboration with Research Business Partners and key contacts (e.g. Communication, Legal, Finance, HR, ITS, Digital, etc.) (Research post-doc programs, Global Research Awards, Learning and Development, R&D week…).

The RMO is also responsible for communicating key messages across R&D (highlights, newsletters, presentation for ExCOM, Scientific Committee of the Board) and the Global Research community (Global Research Town Hall, Newsletters, Yammer and Buzz site, publication reports, specific events…).

Finally, the RMO coordinates the Research Leadership Team governance (LT meetings, scientific reviews, deep-dives and SDSAC meetings, Integration support…).

Within the RMO team, the Project Manager will play an important role with unique accountabilities to support the implementation of RMO strategic and operational initiatives globally as well as communication.

Specifically, a successful candidate will be the Learning and Development partner for Global Research. He/She will support Global Research communication, and ensure the Project Management of Global Research initiatives and RMO operations working closely with all members of the RMO team supporting all activities in the remit of the perimeter. He/she will work as an integrated team member to cover a large diversity of activities and will be a member of the weekly RMO alignment meetings with the Global Head of Research and CSO.

Candidates need to have a solid background in science, working experience in R&D and can efficiently connect and communicate with Research scientists to communicate and manage Global Research initiatives effectively. The candidate must be qualified for the level of project management and is willing to fill the gaps of any tasks when needed. This position will be in the RMO and will directly report to the Head of the Research Management Office.

Responsibilities

Role as Learning & Development Research Partner

  • Be the Research Learning partner for the Sanofi University and its R&D Learning Institutes to conciliates coordinate the best learning capabilities in Research, aligned with the strategy, and the need of the evolving sciences and technologies.

  • Will interact within Global Research with all Scientists to define Learning and Development needed. Will be responsible for disseminating the information about learning programs available and adapted to needs or to be defined if any new scientific or technologic evolution. Will work closely with R&D Learning Institute and Research stakeholders to design new program if needed.

  • Will interact with the network of learning Purchase Requesters in Research functions and ensure compliance of learning Purchase Requests, including implementation of corrective actions, if needed

  • Contribute to the monthly Learning & Development spending monitoring

RMO Project Management and Operations Responsibilities

  • Support and/or independently manage Global Research projects and initiatives, including developing project plans (Onboarding plan, Working Group planning, organizing meetings, coordinating executions with all stakeholders, track progress, and ensure timely deliveries)

  • Support Global Research Communications (e.g. Intranet, Newsletters, Buzz Site, and beyond) across Global Research community, support Global Research Events preparation, including Global Research Town Halls, program reviews, strategy deep dives, site visits, and scientific forums. Coordinate the preparation and communication of pre-reading materials and presentation documents for Global Research large meetings

Basic Qualifications

  • M.S./Ph.D in Science with 5 years of working experience and solid performance in a R&D organization or B.S. in Science with 7 years of working experience and outstanding performance in a R&D organization

  • Demonstrated a good understanding of drug discovery or development process

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, esp. in R&D environment

  • Ability of navigating and performing in highly dynamic and complex working environment

  • Ability of multitasking while maintaining high quality outputs

  • Ability to pay attention to details and delivering results with high accuracy

  • Ability of understanding and working with scientists, capturing feedbacks and formulating plans

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. PowerPoint, PDF, Excel, etc.)
