Sanofi Group Lead, US Public Affairs and Patient Advocacy-Oncology (Director level) in Cambridge, Massachusetts

The Public Affairs & Patient Advocacy team partners with the US advocacy community on issues that are critical to patients and champion them internally and externally:

  • Advance Innovation - Listen to and partner with advocates to incorporate patients’ insights from research through commercialization.

  • Facilitate Access – Partner with advocates to improve patient access and affordability, and keep patients’ needs at the center of policymaker and payer decisions.

  • Improve Health - Partner with advocates to empower patients to have informed discussions with their providers about solutions to improve their health.

The Lead, US Public Affairs and Patient Advocacy, Oncology (Director Level) reports to the Head of US Public Affairs & Patient Advocacy Oncology. This position is based in Cambridge, Mass. or Washington, DC. Sanofi US is only considering candidates who are currently legally eligible to work in the U.S. for this position. This position may be open to consideration Relocation Support.

Job Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Lead the creation and execution of shared goals and comprehensive strategies to collaborate with the oncology US advocacy communities, focusing on breast cancer, to ensure patients’ needs are met and that barriers to access are addressed.

  • Develop and maintain trusted partnerships with US-based oncology patient advocacy groups, mainly breast cancer patient community, by identifying shared goals and areas of collaboration focused on patients’ needs.

  • Represent Sanofi and participate in relevant external meetings and ensure that the company leadership position is evident to the patient community.

  • Collaborate across Corporate Affairs, Oncology business unit (marketing, market access, medical affairs), R&D, and global to ensure alignment with the patient community.

  • Ensure compliance with all corporate, industry, and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications and Skill Sets :

  • A minimum of a BA/BS degree in scientific, public health, or a related field

  • A minimum of 5 years of US advocacy oncology experience: understand the complex oncology market and have a familiarity with the science and the advocacy community

  • Partnership: Proven skills as an effective collaborator who can engender credibility and confidence within and outside the company, able to effectively convey ideas verbally and in writing.

  • Strategic thinking: able to align function’s objectives with overall company strategy; able to anticipate and address issues in an evolving and complex environment, and strong ability to prioritize workload and communicate team priorities.

  • Execution excellence: able to implement programs from planning to execution with tangible impact and measurable results for patients.

  • Leadership: to engage with, earn trust, and inspire actions in both external stakeholders/partners and internal management/colleagues.

  • Writing and communication: Ability to distill and present complex information in a clear, simple, and convincing manner for diverse audiences.

  • Creative skills: Ability to bring innovative solutions to challenges facing patients

  • This position may require up to 20% overall business travel
