The Public Affairs & Patient Advocacy team partners with the US advocacy community on issues that are critical to patients and champion them internally and externally:
Advance Innovation - Listen to and partner with advocates to incorporate patients’ insights from research through commercialization.
Ensure Access – Partner with advocates to improve patient access and affordability, and keep patients’ needs at the center of policymaker and payer decisions.
Improve Health - Partner with advocates to empower patients to have informed discussions with their providers about solutions to improve their health.
Given these core beliefs for empowering patients’ lives, the Head, US Public Affairs and Patient Advocacy Oncology position is responsible to:
Builds and maintains relationships with US oncology advocacy groups.
Identify shared goals, strategies and initiatives between Sanofi and the US advocacy community focused on patients’ needs.
Align with Sanofi colleagues across R&D, medical, Business Unit and other functions of Corporate Affairs both in the US and globally to ensure a consistent and intentional engagement strategy.
Ensure compliance and transparency to enhance company reputation and earn public trust.
This position reports directly to the Vice President & Head of US Public Affairs & Patient Advocacy and is member of the US Public Affairs & Patient Advocacy leadership team and the US Oncology Business Unit Extended Leadership team.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the creation and execution of comprehensive strategies to collaborate with the oncology US advocacy communities to ensure patients’ needs are met and that barriers to access are addressed.
Establish or maintain Sanofi as a trusted partner with US advocacy groups by identifying common goals and areas of collaboration focused on patient needs.
Collaborate across US Corporate Affairs (state and federal government relations, policy and reimbursement, CSR, and communications), business units, market access, HEVA, medical affairs, R&D, and global functions to ensure alignment and deliver maximum value to US external advocacy partners.
Represent Sanofi and participate in relevant external meetings throughout the year.
Manage 1 to 2 direct reports, by utilizing best in class managerial approaches and modeling leadership competencies such as effective communication, managing execution, coaching, and engaging/inspiring.
Forward thinking with a strong ability to influence and change how Sanofi engages with US oncology advocacy groups, including analyzing market trends, issues, and environmental factors to anticipate opportunities and risks of importance to Sanofi and patients; work with appropriate functions to counsel management and impact company decision-making process.
Ensure compliance with all corporate, industry, and regulatory guidelines.
Must be able to travel when required
Position is based in Cambridge, Mass. or Washington, DC.
A minimum of a BA/BS degree in scientific, public health, policy or a related field is required.
Master’s degree is desired
A minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry is required.
A minimum of 7 years of experience in patient advocacy is required.
Progressive experience in partnering with Patient Advocacy communities with the Breast space is required
Progressive experience in partnering with Patient Advocacy communities within the Lung space is preferred
This position may require up to 25% overall travel with focused travel within the NA geography
Selected candidate will possess proven skill sets in the following areas:
US advocacy oncology experience: understand the complex oncology market and have a familiarity with the science and the advocacy community
