Sanofi Group Head of Business Process Improvement in Cambridge, Massachusetts

In North America, we support R&D teams with optimized sites and infrastructure, processes and tools, knowledge and collaborative networks to ensure best-in-class implementation of our project strategies and maximize the engagement of our people across all our sites.

At the country level, we work in three main areas together with local R&D leaders and the Sanofi Country Council: People and Culture, Ecosystem and Operations.

We are looking for a purpose-driven, self-motivated collaborative change agent for the position of R&D NA Operations Business Process Improvement Program Lead. This highly motivated individual will lead a team of Business Process Coordinators and act as a bridge between the R&D Operations business function, R&D Groups and other key partners such as P2P, Digital and Human Resources. The role is responsible for analyzing business problems and identifying solutions to increase the user experience and operational efficiency of R&D Business Processes. This role will work directly with internal business stakeholders in R&D Groups and Business Partner functions (Digital, HR, P2P) to deliver/integrate solutions in a fast paced environment, leveraging cross functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and delivers service improvement activity across the R&D business through employing user data, process improvement methodologies and the application of innovative and design thinking.

  • Partners with business partners to create satisfying or compelling experiences for users of a product, often drawing on results from user research and insights and workflow analysis to develop personas, concepts, prototypes and usage scenarios to maximize R&D User experience of Sanofi Business Processes.

  • Define the right requirements, interaction model and evaluate its success.

  • Through voice of customer and user experience data, works with key business stakeholders to build a best-in-class continuous improvement environment, support an ongoing program of change development to support the R&D community.

  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex business challenges to drive efficiency/productivity.

  • To support the delivery of better value and greater efficiency through the identification and elimination of unnecessary complexity within business processes and identification of better ways of working and streamlined business processes.

  • To lead and facilitate Agile/LEAN/process improvement based workshops to drive ideas and solutions.

  • To identify trends and process variations as part of establishing a continuous improvement monitoring system.

  • Represent R&D GO in governance forums and discussions with peers and executive level stakeholders.

  • Partners with other team members and business services departments to devise new support material based on the revised processes, to include training, reporting and systems enhancements.

  • In partnership with Business Owners, create and drive programs to implement and improve increase awareness of tools, including Digital tools and literacy.

  • To actively monitor project risks to foresee/identify potential problems and proactively identify solutions.

  • Responsible for ensuring requirements, assumptions, dependencies, and risks for potential solutions to technical and business issues are assessed and addressed appropriately to meet employee/ R&D user experience requirements.

  • Incorporated process issue resolutions/ escalation mechanisms into business process changes.

  • Conducts post launch reviews and lessons learned to ensure successful delivery has been achieved and to ensure that improvements can be made to enhance the R&D user experience.

  • Develop and monitor pertinent KPIs and metrics for Business processes, including Dashboard/ Scorecard development, performance reporting.

  • Work with the R&D NAM Operations and Business Partner leadership teams to enhance vendor management/sourcing practices as part of managing strategic partnerships.

  • Keeps abreast of external best practices and trends, championing the development of a high performance and continuous process improvement culture, driven by metrics, benchmarking and best practices.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, Data Science or related discipline with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience (MBA preferred) across different functional groups preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in project leadership.

  • Good knowledge of the R&D Biopharmaceutical industry, processes and ecosystems preferred.

  • Project Management certification preferred, with demonstrated experience working with cross functional, diverse and multicultural teams.

  • Operational Excellence certification preferred (LEAN or other), with demonstrated leadership executing complex transformation projects.

  • Experienced or with strong interest in applying technology and data to process improvement.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Purpose driven with ability to influence and passionate about collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across different levels and R&D colleagues to identify solutions and deliver on plans.

  • External orientation and entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to identify, deliver and implement novel approaches to deliver solutions inspired by best practices.

  • Strong business acumen and customer orientation with strong analytical thinking and digital literacy skills.

  • Self-motivated, prone to action, autonomous and results oriented with ability to lead multiple complex initiatives (short, mid and long-term) with impact.

  • Excellent business acumen and strategic agility. Critical thinker. Good judgment and decision-making abilities.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication/presentation skills while demonstrating humility.
