Sanofi Group Global Brand Lead, Aubagio & Lemtrada in Cambridge, Massachusetts

The Global Brand Lead (GBL) for Aubagio (teriflunomide) and Lemtrada (alemtuzumab) will be responsible for the successful long-term commercial success of the brands in MS.

This role will act as “CEO” of the brands and will lead a senior-level, cross-functional Global Brand Team. Responsibilities include developing and communicating global brand strategy, overseeing lifecycle strategy, including managing generic entry, leading the development of global marketing and communications for the brands, and managing the global marketing team. This will require strong cross-functional leadership, communication, and networking skills, as well as a track record of successfully differentiating brands in crowded and competitive markets. All this needs to be done with strong focus on compliance.

Aubagio is currently a significant financial contributor to Sanofi, generating €2B in annual revenue and significant business operating ncome (profit).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Lead the combined Aubagio & Lemtrada Global Brand Team (GBT)

  • The Global Brand Team is the lead execution and decision-making body for the brands. It is comprised of senior leaders from key functions, including Commercial, Medical, Regulatory, Development, Legal, Public Affairs, and Supply Chain. This role will lead the GBT to ensure high performance, and flawless alignment and coordination.

  • The Global Brand Lead will act as the primary internal “champion” for Aubagio and Lemtada, representing the brand in presentations to senior management.

  • The Global Brand Team is responsible for generating a global brand strategy and plan, the “bible” from which all functional and tactical plans should flow.

  • The Global Brand Lead will work closely with the Global Project Lead (GPL) and Global Project Team (GPT) to ensure flawless alignment and coordination of activities related to registration and life cycle management.

  • Strategy and Plans:

  • Develop and deploy strategies to achieve business goals, maintain/improve sales, profit, market share and cash flow consistent with goals of the business unit and the long term strategic plans of the company;

  • Articulate a clear brand strategy, leveraging Sanofi Marketing Excellence frameworks;

  • Ensure local and functional input into brand strategy and ensure close integration and flawless execution of marketing strategies and tactics in field;

  • Support strategic portfolio development activities for the business;

  • Develop customer/channel marketing strategies to position products and create value for the company and patients/customers.

  • Deliver the Numbers:

  • Achieve sales, profit and market share within agreed budgets.

  • Monitoring and Control:

  • Monitor and review business performance of sales and marketing teams and ensure management actions are taken to secure adherence to agreed plans;

  • Ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness of all aspects of the business;

  • Manage budget to highest impact opportunities.

  • External Relations:

  • Ensure promotional activities are in compliance with guidelines and regulations;

  • Develop and strengthen strategic relationships with customers (e.g. physicians, group practices, pharmacies, KOLs and payers) in the therapeutic area to support medical and commercial activities in alignment with compliance guidelines to ensure continued premiere status of the company.

  • People and Organization:

  • Lead a best-in-class marketing team, cultivating an inclusive, high-performance environment that values and leverages diversity;

  • Provide personal leadership to inspire and motivate marketing teams to continuously strive for excellence;

  • Select and develop key talent and ensure retention of high-performers;

  • Strengthen the team and the company by creating a winning spirit and by developing excellence-oriented and customer-focused culture, fostering innovation and building best in class teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, science, or related discipline required.

  • 10 years of demonstrated success in a variety of marketing, sales leadership and general management roles of progressively greater scope and responsibility;

  • Deep experience in the multiple sclerosis market, including knowledge of key influencers

Preferred

  • An advanced degree (MD or MBA) is preferred;

  • A seasoned and well-rounded executive with at least , preferred;

  • Experience building and leading a pharmaceutical/biotech commercial organization within marketing responsibilities and successful general management experience preferred;

  • Proven command of classic marketing and sales disciplines and techniques;

  • Demonstrated success in commercial planning, launching, aggressively growing and managing products through their life cycle;

  • A demonstrated commitment to innovation. Prior experience leading significant transformational change while simultaneously managing on-target business unit performance;

  • Proven skills in communicating changes, managing design and implementation, applying innovative thinking and aligning plans, people and processes;

  • A strong business orientation and the ability to view issues from multiple functional perspectives;

  • Experience working collaboratively and cross-functionally with marketing brand teams, market research, sales, managed markets, sales operations, medical affairs, business development, regulatory, research & development, manufacturing, finance and legal;

  • Exceptional leadership skills with proven ability to develop next generation leaders; excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to interface seamlessly with other parts of organization.
