Position Title : Head/Director Franchise Operations, US Rare Diseases

Reports : General Manager US Rare Disease

Location : Cambridge MA

The Head of Franchise Operations reports to the General Manager, US Rare Disease Business Unit and will be responsible for monitoring and implementing the BU’s priorities while ensuring the BU runs efficiently and interacts effectively with all stakeholders. The Head Franchise Operations is considered a key through partner for the GM and will work closely with USLT members. He or she will provide strategic and operational support in line with the Business Units overall business objectives. There will be small and large initiatives assigned where attention to detail is necessary, and strong communication skills are required.

This is a very much visible leadership role across the Rare Disease Nation and Sanofi Genzyme, and one that offers significant development opportunities. This role is exciting, and the scope is across the entire BU encompassing 5 therapeutic areas, 7 products, and 3 near term launches. The role is dynamic and eclectic so, prioritization will be critical. The role is one where flexibility is a critical success factor, and the ability to learn and contribute to the Rare Disease Nation and Sanofi Genzyme success is robust.

This Head Franchise Operations will engage in cross functional collaboration with Marketing, Sales, TLL, PSS, Finance, Business Operations, Market Research, Market Access, Medical Affairs, DE&I, Meeting Planning, others with similar roles, all Business Units and external partners. He or she will be responsible for overseeing the strategic business planning process, analyzing, and identifying opportunities and associated strategies for growth, and identifying areas to improve overall effectiveness.

The candidate must be solution-oriented, operationally savvy, creative, highly organized, at adept at handling multiple projects at the time. It will be critical that the candidate works cross-functionally in a synergistic and collaborative manner, and highly values a positive culture and teamwork.

This position will report to the US General Manager, Rare Disease Business Unit Location: Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Oversee the strategic business planning and budget process for the BU Budget / F1 / F2, LRP, Strategic plan.

  • Manage BU internal communication channels and messages.

  • Drive culture initiatives and related workstreams throughout BU.

  • Coordinate and lead weekly leadership team meetings in conjunction with GM.

  • Work with leadership to define strategy and tactics to achieve BU business objectives.

  • Organize and facilitate deep dive acceleration plans as needed.

  • Coordinate analytic exercises in partnership with Business Operations Provide operational and project management support to US GM.

  • Represent the GM in meetings, events or any instances necessary, and speak on their behalf.

  • Prepare or ensure preparation of presentations and documents requested by the GM for internal and external meetings and events

  • Serve as lead for all compliance and privacy related deliverables on behalf of the BU. Work with brand leads and sales leadership to ensure teams are aware of Sanofi Genzyme compliance procedures, changes, and follow-up.

  • Lead key cross brand projects as determined by the business. Leverage key functional relationships to scope, coordinate, and deliver on project requirements.

  • Facilitate leadership dynamics: foster collaboration, create time for discussion and exchanges. Lead continuing efforts to build a positive inclusive work culture.

  • Any other project as discussed and assigned by the General manager.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial operations: sales, marketing, sales analytics, product/project management, HR, corporate finance and/or knowledge of specialty care market

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or other advanced degree is preferred

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional groups such as Marketing, Sales, R&D, Medical Affairs, Market Research, Finance, Forecasting, etc.
