Sanofi Group Director - Field Based Medical - Immunology and Inflammation in Cambridge, Massachusetts
The Director Field Based Medical (FBM) immunology and inflammation will report to the Head of Medical Affairs, Immunology and Inflammation and will be an integral part of the leadership team. This position can be field based or home office based.
This position is responsible for developing the pre-launch and launch immunology and inflammation strategy, tactical plan, and metrics for the field based medical team, with an initial focus on pemphigus vulgaris. In addition, the Director FBM is responsible for coaching and developing a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSL) to ensure effective and efficient execution of the strategy and tactics. The FBM Director will also work cross-functionally with other field leaders and the leadership team to ensure a compliant, cohesive, and efficient FBM strategy.
General Roles and Responsibilities:
Development of 3 year strategic, 1 year tactical, and scientific education plans and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for FBM.
Develop short- and long-term resourcing plan for FBM to meet life cycle needs.
Oversee medical education agency development of FBM materials and programs.
Ensure on-time and on-budget execution of FBM tactical plans.
Analyze data and develop monthly reports for senior management, including KPIs and field insights in collaboration with Strategy and Operations Director.
Organize Medical Coverage and KOL engagement at Scientific Meetings.
Develop onboarding and ongoing training for MSL team.
Work with internal stakeholders to implement global, cross-therapeutic area, or cross-GBU field-based excellence initiatives.
Interface with other FBM Leads to identify efficiencies, best practices, and ensure consistent implementation across therapeutic areas.
Ensure effective communication with internal stakeholders and MSLs and MSL collaboration with medical directors to ensure MSLs develop the most effective and efficient scientific engagement plans with KOLs.
Guide the management of MSL capabilities and expected performance through use of the Scientific Engagement Model coaching assessment to ensure excellent execution of their role and achievement of scientific goals.
Support the generation and communication of scientific and medical insights to internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with clinical operations as needed on site recruitment and training for clinical trials.
Collaborate with commercial to provide support for internal training and speaker training.
Minimum masters or advanced degree in related scientific discipline.
Doctorate degree from an accredited university (MD, PhD, Pharm D) preferred.
Post-bachelor’s degree from accredited university (e.g. Masters, MBA or equivalent) valuable.
Knowledge of specialty products required.
Rare disease, dermatology or immunology knowledge preferred.
Launch knowledge preferred.
Prior role as an MSL or another field medical role required.
Prior management of a field medical team a plus.
Total related medical/pharmaceutical experience 5+ Years.
Knowledge of systems (e.g. CRM, content management solutions), policies, procedures and regulations related to the medical affairs and field medical affairs functions.
Ability to lead teams/initiatives and develop people.
Upon removal of company travel restrictions, up to 50% travel may required including one week per month in the corporate headquarters, national and international scientific meetings, internal planning meetings, and travel associated with field management responsibilities.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass a complete background check.
Driving a company car in a safe manner to daily meetings and appointments is required.
Responsible for operating the motor vehicle using safe driving practices, knowledge of and compliance with all company policies, and obeying all traffic laws.
