Sanofi Group Principal Scientist- Quantitative Systems Pharmacology, Bridgewater, NJ in Bridgewater, New Jersey
The Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) group within Translational Informatics- Translational Medicine Early Development (TI-TMED) is searching for a Principal Scientist with expertise in Quantitative Systems Pharmacology approaches. The TI department at Sanofi, a global health care and pharmaceutical company, focuses on modeling and simulation approaches that aid critical decision making throughout the various phases of drug development. The individual will join the QSP group to develop predictive mechanistic computational models to support drug development. The responsibilities of the Principal Scientist will include:
Lead efforts to build and apply QSP models in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to answer drug development questions.
Work with external partners (CROs, consultants and collaborators) to support internal QSP efforts in key disease areas.
Identify and interpret preclinical and clinical data critical for model development and refinement.
Develop data science approaches to integrate and extract novel insights from data.
Communicate modeling predictions to key stakeholders to facilitate strategy and decision-making. This includes ability to interact as a modeling and simulation expert across clinical development teams with experts from different functional areas (pre-clinical and clinical).
Keep up-to-date with, and propose, the implementation of scientific and technological developments in the area of Systems Pharmacology/Biology.
Actively contribute to scientific literature by developing abstracts and manuscripts.
Perform job duties independently with minimal supervision, and mentor others to develop similar capabilities.
Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Systems Biology/Pharmacology or a related field
5+ years of mathematical modeling & computer simulation experience specific for biomedical/pharmaceutical applications (experience within the pharmaceutical industry is preferred).
Track record of productivity from postdoctoral work, with evidence of independence in leading scientific projects. This includes publication record of practical experience in area of systems pharmacology modeling.
Hands-on experience with programming languages such as Matlab/R (Matlab preferred).
Experience leading projects.
Knowledge of C/C++ is desirable.
Understanding of theory, principles and statistical aspects of mathematical modeling and simulation.
Understanding of the basic principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics also desired.
Good understanding of cell biology and physiology.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and analytical skills.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Desire to work within a team environment.
Strong project management skills, including organization, time management and follow-up are key.
