Sanofi Group Oncology - Operational Therapeutic Area Leader in Bridgewater, New Jersey

The AMERICAS Clinical Study Unit - CSU Oncology Operational Therapeutic Leader (Onc OTAL) provides leadership & proposes operational innovation across the oncology portfolio for AMERICAS CSU. Specifically the OTAL reviews the full oncology portfolio, from an operations perspective, and provides consolidated strategic recommendations for execution of the portfolio. He/she ensures full oncology TA team alignment in AMERICAS CSU, including key stakeholders such as clinical supplies, legal, procurement, CSO-PL, etc.

The OTAL is accountable for delivering the oncology portfolio development strategy for AMERICAS CSU inlcuding reliable & aggressive operational plans. He/She monitors the plan execution, reports on status and ensures relevant risk mitigation (timelines, budget, & quality) is developed as needed.

The OTAL is accountable for ensuring the AMERICAS CSU oncology deliverables via effective account, program, project management and leadership skills in a manner that will optimize, integrate and utilize AMERICAS CSU resources and competencies. The OTAL recommends innovative models for conduct of these studies, including the possibilty of local outsourcing. He/she ensures reliable performance and productivity by leading and coordinating AMERICAS CSU oncology expertise and services for the allocated project(s) / program(s).

The OTAL is the main interface with CSO-PL Head (oncology), oncology leaders throughout CSO, oncology development teams (when direct contact is needed) and other project & enabling functions.

The OTAL collaborates closely with the AMERICAS CSU Leadership team, including Medical Advisors, CROMs, COE Liaisons, etc. to develop recommendations & scenario planning.

The OTAL must have oncology portfolio experience with the ability to see the big picture and propose consolidated approaches to portfolio delivery, including measurements of success.

Initial focus for this role will be US.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Strong project management experience, transversal and strategic leadership capabilites.

  • Extensive oncology experience & background necessary including networked with investigators (KOLs and key trialists).

  • Communication skills and a business acumenare required

  • Ability to drive for a high performance cross functional team that empowers and motivates individual members and the team as a whole.

  • Strong interpersonal skills required to effectively collaborate with customers (physicians, scientists and managers from various disciplines) and set and manage expectations clearly.

  • Serves as internal consultant and primary liasion with all groups internal & external to CSO platform for projects.

Formal education and/or experience required:

  • At least Bachelor degree in relevant scientific and/or medical field and a minimum of 15 years experience in clinical research in pharmaceutical industry. Profound project management experience is required. People management experience is a plus. Proven leadership skills necessary including delivery of major initaitive or portfolio.

Knowledge and skills desirable but not essential:

  • Knowledge of sanofi-aventis SOPs.

  • Remote management experience.
