Context

  • Sanofi has embarked on digital transformation. Digital transformation is of strategic importance to Sanofi and has senior management sponsorship and commitment. Several catalytic initiatives have been launched to achieve ambitious goals, which trigger new ways of working and challenge existing processes and traditional patterns. The information technology revolution enables things which were simply not possible before. This transition also requires effective governance around our digital transformation to drive optimal and sustainable value of our digital initiatives. This also applies to the Medical function, where change may touch on the integrity and rights of patients and healthcare professionals.

Mission, Mandate, Philosophy of Approach

  • The Medical Governance of Digital Activities team ensures comprehensive and consistent Medical Governances around digital activities is effective and efficient, so as to support the digital transformation across the company, and particularly of the medical function while enhancing its performance and value in delivering on their strategic mission and objectives.

  • The mandate includes building oversight and understanding risks encountered, developing a strategic medical digital governance roadmap and delivering on respective key milestones. An initial focus on risk based priorities around Safety, GCP and Compliance affecting patients and healthcare professionals may evolve to optimally support the effective coordination and collaboration of the plentiful digital activities from a Medical perspective, aligned with Sanofi´s ambition.

  • The team has a supportive and enabling approach to governance. Clarifying ambiguity, creating awareness and proactive support to help navigating new fields and avoid conflicts with regulatory and ethical requirements. This enables the organization to better direct its well-intended digital activities and advance faster and more confidently. The team focuses on digital activities, which have a transformative dimension or nature.

The role, your contribution

Duties and Responsibilities

  • As team member, you lead one or more work streams or topics together with your business partners and colleagues in various functions or GBUs as the case may be. You provide content and collaboratively work to suitable solutions. Your scope and influence will develop with the impact you make, the network you build and the trust and credibility you win. After onboarding, you work independently under the guidance of your line manager and keep your superior and stakeholders well informed and aligned with you progress and planned activities.

  • You work in cross-functional teams, which combine the capabilities and experience necessary for the challenge at hand. You lead topics and work streams, drive discussions, achieve decisions and consensus, clarity on the question, topic or issue, transparency on considerations, robustness of decision making and conduct stakeholders consultations.

  • You build and maintain a network and leverage this network for efficient and effective results. Your results are robust, sustained, well calibrated with broadly collected considerations.

  • The team is being established and nimble in order to well adapt and sustain structures and plans to the scope, risk and urgency. As plans and support needs solidify, the team, focus and scope may adapt accordingly.

Activities

  • Lead your projects, flag risks or issues, develop, propose and implement appropriate course of action to achieve the desired result and effective change as intended

  • Contribute content to your projects stimulate and drive discussion and conclusion. Execute in time, budget and scope

  • Frequent and diverse interaction with leaders of Digital Initiatives, ITS colleagues and business partners, the Chief data officer´s team, the data privacy team, Legal, GBU Medical teams, as well as colleagues within the CMO Office engaged in various governance activities (like Ethics or Safety), with a focus on your current project work assigned.

  • Prepare communication and presentation to support discussion and decisions at various levels (including senior management).

  • Work on establishing and maintaining a digital asset inventory.

  • Perform risk assessments/mapping on digital activities or project undertakings.

  • Compile and analyze benchmarks and identify and share good practice.

  • Scan developments on the regulatory horizon.

  • Review policies and procedures, assess gaps and evaluate solutions to address them.

  • Formalize and adapt governance documents as needed. Support and oversee their implementation. Develop trainings or communication material and deliver to target audience effectively.

  • Contribute to the development of a strategic approach (roadmap) to the digital governance field. As implementation progresses, change to a continuous improvement process.

  • Perform gap analysis and suggest corrective action and obtain approval.

  • You will be a member of the Medical Governance of Digital Activities team (no direct reports), reporting to the head of this team.

Experience

  • 10 or more years experience in the researching and manufacturing healthcare industry, ideally Pharma. Good understanding of Clinical Development & Pharmacovigilance processes and requirements.

  • Prior experience or exposure in a role related to the digital strategic initiatives (their stakeholder group and topics). Information technology literacy and familiar with applicable concepts.

  • Know Sanofi and experience in one of it’s GBUs/Functions which you can leverage for the job

  • Ideally experienced in more than one function or business unit. Consulting, clinical or commercial experience, combined with digital, quality, regulatory or compliance exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Higher level education (Master or equivalent) in a subject related field

  • Demonstrated continued education or training
