Sanofi Group Head of One Trade in Bridgewater, New Jersey

Working in close partnership with the Sanofi’s commercial business unit leaders across the various global business units, the Head of One Trade will serve as the leader for Sanofi’s go to market teams & functions listed below:

  • Wholesaler & Retail Strategy & Operations

  • Wholesaler & Retail Account Teams

  • Specialty Pharmacy Operations & Insights

  • Specialty Pharmacy Account Teams

  • Trade & Revenue Management

The Head of One Trade will report into the US Country Council Chair yet also has to ensure the business unit heads are fully aligned and endorse strategic trade channel strategies / operations related to their businesses across the various channels. Further this individual will be overseeing a coordinated approach across both home office and the account facing trade teams to ensure an aligned One Sanofi approach to the brands and the downstream customers. This position plays a critical role in the creation and execution of the trade and distribution strategy for Sanofi across all channels.

Global Trade will be a key strategic partner to ensure local US trade framework ladders up to the global vision with the global Head of Trade as well as the global Mature Markets trade lead. A strong & coordinated approach with global ensures inventory trends are managed closely as well as critical markers are harmonized and kept in check (such as payment terms, DSO, DOH, etc.).

Another critical stakeholder is Market Access, especially the Head of Market Access, the Value & Access VPs, and the Account Management teams across Sanofi & Sanofi Genzyme to ensure proper account pull through with the specialty pharmacies across MS, Oncology, Immunology, Hemophilia, & PCSK9s (as well as retail & wholesale with the diabetes, generics / established medicines, & joint health teams).

Further the Supply Chain team including customer support will also be critical partners in ensuring the success of product flow to ultimately enhance the patient journey / experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Accountable for developing, coaching and leading a senior director team & additional direct reports as well as indirectly providing leadership & a positive culture to appropriate stakeholders across the organization

  • Lead the trade inventory of all company products (except rare) and coordinate the development of distribution strategies with senior executives

  • Negotiate favorable supply distribution agreements with distribution partners to ensure no disruption of product availability

  • Strategic / forward-thinking development of innovative trade distribution opportunities / channels to ensure the trade and distribution organization is positioned to support company objectives

  • Ensuring the trade teams coordinate with the brands and commercial leaders across contracts and services for specialty pharmacies, wholesalers and retailers as well as vendors working in the access services space (reimbursement support, prior authorizations, EHR, trade marketing, etc.)

  • Chair the One Trade Committee that looks to bring together all trade and supply related functions (across Sanofi Genzyme, Sanofi Pasteur, Sanofi Consumer Health, General Medicines, and the Diabetes & CV business unit) into one governance to have a common view and understanding of the various channels where Sanofi operates

  • This individual will work closely with internal stakeholders such as Supply Chain, Marketing, Market Access, Training, Medical, HR, Internal Controls, Compliance & Legal to ensure trade strategies are coordinated and occur in accordance with brand strategies & company policy

Qualifications

  • BA/BS required, MBA/MS preferred, or comparable experience

  • 10 – 12 years of working in the pharma/biotech space

  • 8 – 10 years pharmaceutical industry experience working with wholesale/specialty distributors & specialty and retail pharmacies; strong understanding of typical functions and procedures

  • Experience leading a sales force / account teams as well as senior home office teams / directors

  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)

  • Excellent leadership and management skills

  • Experience with IV, oral, hospital, buy-and-bill and Medicare Part D products

  • Strong understanding of Trade processes and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements

  • Ability to build relationships and expand company's presence with senior executives at distribution partners & pharmacy chains

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly visible and dynamic environment is critical; able to work effectively with ambiguity and incomplete information

  • Ability to influence and lead across functions; operate in a matrix environment

Location & Travel

  • Position will need to spend 65% of the time in Bridgewater, NJ & 35% of the time in Cambridge, MA

  • Travel can be significant based on customer meetings & trade / specialty pharmacy events
