The Head of AI Scientific Product in R&D will be at the forefront of infusing cutting-edge artificial intelligence into our research and development processes at scale. This role will spearhead the integration of AI solutions that drive innovation, accelerate drug discovery, and optimize our R&D pipeline. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of AI technology coupled with a deep appreciation for the challenges and opportunities within the pharmaceutical R&D landscape. The candidate will oversee the full life cycle of AI product, from scoping, resourcing, design, development, deployment to post deployment monitoring and ensuring highest value added to R&D.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Create and implement a transformative AI product tailored for our R&D objectives.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with R&D scientists, AI/ML engineers, digital, regulatory, and other stakeholders to design and implement AI-driven solutions for R&D challenges.

  • Innovation & Research: Stay abreast of emerging AI technologies and methodologies with potential applications in drug discovery and development.

  • Product Development: Oversee the scoping, design, development, and deployment of AI-driven tools and platforms to support the R&D teams.

  • Agile Methodology: Advocate and ensure the use of Agile software development practices for swift and adaptive product development.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary AI subject matter expert for the R&D department and maintain open channels of communication with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Risk Management: Guarantee AI solutions comply with ethical standards, data privacy regulations, and other relevant guidelines.

  • Team Leadership: Mentor, lead, and expand a team of AI specialists, ensuring their growth and alignment with the company's goals.

About you

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related field. An advanced degree in Life Sciences or Pharmacy with an AI focus is also desirable.

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years dedicated to AI and its applications in an R&D setting.

  • Demonstrated success in delivering AI-driven solutions in an R&D or corporate environment.

  • Proficiency in Agile software development methodologies.

  • Deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical R&D process.

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Experience in big pharma or a closely related industry.

  • Familiarity with global pharmaceutical R&D regulations and standards.

  • Ability to bridge the gap between technical experts and R&D professionals.
