Field Reimbursement Director, Oncology & Transplant - East

In this field based position, the Field Reimbursement Director (FRD) will be responsible for successfully hiring and leading a Field Reimbursement Manager (FRM) team to become the field subject matter expert on Patient Support Services (PSS) including billing, coding, and access and coverage issues for infused products within Oncology & Transplant within defined region. Within a highly competitive marketplace, the Director will be called upon to successfully lead and motivate their team to execute the National FRM strategy. The Field Reimbursement Director reports to the Head of Patient Support Services for Oncology and Transplant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of FRMs in the development of account business plans and account specific tactics that optimize business performance including recruitment, hiring and training of an accomplished team of FRMs

  • Responsible for the oversight of all aspects of field reimbursement team and will be the subject matter experts on buy & bill processes, billing and coding information, financial assistance offerings from our Patient Support Programs (PSP), patient access, medical policy requirements and other business related issues

  • Develop regional business plans including strategies, tactics, and resource utilization to support PSP education and patient access and affordability challenges for our products

  • Be an expert in product reimbursement and financial assistance offerings from Patient Support Programs of Sanofi Genzyme.

  • Spend significant time in the field with Field Reimbursement Managers in order to support individual development, as well as provide coaching, direction and feedback

  • Plan, design and implement territory alignments to support overall performance

  • Establish positive working relationships with all key customer segments (internal and external)

  • Lead the development, review and implementation of programs and tools that strengthen patient support services to leverage customer insights

  • Understand and adhere to all policies and procedures in order to coordinate local market activities with Genzyme field teams to remove reimbursement obstacles and gain coverage for Oncology & Transplant products in a proactive manner

  • Provide information relating to key strategic customers and the business environment

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively and transversally with other Regional Sales Directors, brand marketing, payer marketing, market access teams, medical affairs and other field teams, and departments necessary to facilitate achievement of objectives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant work experience in one of the following areas:

  • Medical billing, coding, or reimbursement

  • Payer

  • Specialty Pharmacy

  • Oncology and/or Specialty Biotech product Sales or Sales Leadership

  • Ability to travel to meetings, trainings, or programs as required

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oncology experience strongly preferred

  • Field Leadership or equivalent experience, with documented achievements

  • Must be an energetic, driven dynamic leader

  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, communication and leadership skills required

  • Strong understanding and experience working to ensure access for infused products, especially within a buy and bill model

  • Significant experience and understanding of the ever-changing payer environment and its impact on access of products administered in a healthcare setting

  • Demonstrated success working in a matrix environment (sales, market access, customer service, medical affairs, marketing)

  • Ability to quickly assemble and develop a high performing experienced team

  • Must achieve and maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory, legal, and operational rules and procedures, and require the same of his/her team

The successful candidate will be required to sign and execute a restricted covenant upon hire.
