Director, Biostatistics

Job Summary

As a key member of the statistical methodology group, provide leadership and guidance as the lead statistical scientist. Conduct independent research and mentor others to work on proactively identified technical issue from studies. Serve as an intern consultant, lead internal working groups and provide trainings. Provide direct supports to special studies or analyses which require innovative designs and methodologies. Participate in statistical professional activities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide insight in terms of future statistical direction to meet the technical needs of the department.

  • Conduct continual research on proactively identified technical issues from studies. In addition, mentor others to work on various research topics or lead internal working group(s).

  • Promote teamwork, quality, and innovation. Create productive work and research environment. Promote the use of the state of the art designs and methods across studies and projects by offering trainings. Act as a key opinion leader in several statistical areas within the department. Serve as a key internal consultant.

  • May provide direct statistical technical support and leadership to major special studies that require novel designs/new methodologies. Plan and track study/project activities, timelines, and resource use. Prioritize and balance the needs of study/project and research.

  • Ensure productive collaborations with other functions in the aligned study/project teams and with other statistical project leaders and senior leadership when there is the need.

  • Provide statistical technical support to address issues in filings or questions from agencies across projects. Play key role in document review committee(s).

  • Actively participate in professional activities by e.g., serving as a key member of various professional organizations, working groups and committees to represent the company.

Required Education/Experience:

  • PhD at least 8+ years

  • Demonstrated leadership, excellent track record of statistical research, and interpersonal/communication skill

  • Broad and superior understanding of advanced statistical concepts and techniques. With the capability to quickly acquire knowledge in new statistical frontiers.

  • Proven success through extensive interactions with internal/external statisticians.

  • Excellent R/SAS programming skills

  • Sufficient clinical trial experiences.
