Sanofi Group CHC Scientific Affairs – Head, Behavioral Science in Bridgewater, New Jersey



Reporting to the Head of Real-World Evidence (RWE), the Head of Behavioral Science will be responsible for the coordination and development of the behavioral science evidence generation strategy within the overall CHC RWE strategy. The Head of Behavioral Science will work closely with the Head of RWE and RWE Engagement Leads to ensure that a strong behavioral science strategy is incorporated into the overall RWE strategy for all priority areas across Sanofi Consumer Healthcare (CHC), as well as work with other cross-functional leaders to drive "consumer science" across the organization.

The Head of Behavioral Science will also be responsible for leading external engagements with regulatory and health authorities around the adoption and utilization of COA’s and other behavioral science methodologies for labelling and consumer claims. In this regard, he/she will ensure that the CHC behavioral evidence generations strategy is not only aligned with regulatory and health authority views, but also driving the adoption of behavioral evidence uniquely positioned for CHC. He/she will also serve as internal expert for overall behavior science strategy, as well as for behavioral science evidence generation activities.


Knowledge and Skills

  • Deep understanding of interpretation of behavioral outcomes and their applicability in regulatory and health authority current context, as well as increasing the adoption/utilization of the patient voice in future evidence generation activities

  • Experience in a wide variety of behavioral science methodologies and an understanding of the applicability and context of each study’s inherent strengths and weaknesses

  • Entrepreneurial mindset to drive the development of RWE organization

  • Ability to translate behavioral science concepts to cross-functional senior leadership and demonstrate business value/impact of results

  • Experience with developing and presenting regulatory and health authority materials related to behavioral science evidence

Oversight & Coordination

  • Ability to work closely with RWE Engagement Leads to develop and align behavioral health strategy with RWE strategy for each priority category/region

  • Collaborate with other internal functions to maximize value of evidence including those in other areas of CHC Science organization, other areas of CHC in general including Growth Hub, or other parts of Sanofi including Patient Insights organization

  • Foster external partnerships with behavioral science subject matter experts and key opinion leaders to leverage for additional external expertise in key areas

  • Partner with external vendors to further adopt innovative methodologies to incorporate into evidence generation strategies

  • Ability to work autonomously in a team environment, communicate effectively, and act as internal expert for behavioral science related topics


  • Strong presentation skills, including ability to present at senior-level internal meetings, as well as key external meetings including scientific congresses, as well as regulatory and health authority engagements

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to distil complexity down to what matters to stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong English skills (verbal and written if English is the second language) i.e., ability to exchange fluently (incl. negotiation), lead international meetings, write meeting minutes/ emails/ study documents / internal & external communication

  • Able to communicate effectively to senior and executive leadership

  • Ability to adapt his/her communication, address the right topics and adapt content/level of details to the right recipients

III – Formal Education and Experience Required

  • Advanced scientific degree (i.e. MD, PhD, MPH, MSc) with related experience in relevant behavioral science field

  • Expertise in relevant scientific methodologies concerning behavioral studies, including patient journey studies, consumer preference studies, multi-criteria decision analysis studies, etc.

  • At least 10 years of experience in Behavior and Implementation Science, including global strategic experience

  • Clinical experience, skills and judgement are valued

  • Experience in CHC is highly desirable


Develop and lead the CHC behavioral science evidence generation strategy

Lead the overall CHC behavioral science evidence generation strategy and ensure alignment with the overall and individual RWE strategies, as well as current regulatory and health authority contexts

Lead key behavioral science evidence generation activities and advise and support additional cross-functional activities

Drive innovation in CHC behavioral science

Pursue and develop external partnerships with vendors with innovative capabilities/methodologies to unlock new research questions around consumer journeys

Pursue and develop external partnerships with subject matter experts and key opinion leaders to further establish expertise in priority countries/areas

Drive behavioral science business value translation

Translate behavioral science evidence into business value for internal senior and executive leaders

Demonstrate value of innovation and adoption of behavior science for consumer claims
