The Sanofi CHC Scientific Affairs – Head, Behavioral Science leads the consumer-data driven Scientific (regulatory, medical, PV, quality) strategies and selected operational scientific activities aimed ultimately in the creation of consumer-friendly product labels and value-added umbrella brandings enabling the communication of the core CHC brand message deployed under a multi-channel engagement of consumers in a self-care environment. Highly focused on growth activities/innovation for new and also existing product life-cycle programs. Rx-OTC switch in the US will be a key focal area.
Sanofi Consumer Healthcare (CHC) business unit requires the CHC Scientific Affairs – Head, Behavioral Science to take an active role in the development of the project strategies and execution plans to anticipate and/or achieve the business needs for the CHC Portfolio (including medicinal products, food and dietary supplements, medical devices and cosmetics).
This position is a transversal leadership position and will also support the Global business across all CHC Categories and Regions.
The CHC Scientific Affairs – Head, Behavioral Science will work with the CHC Categories, CMC & Devices, and Labelling teams to ensure that all strategic and operational requirements are addressed, and will interact closely and frequently with other internal Scientific Affairs colleagues. Will also work externally with Health Authorities, KOL’s and Trade Associations on policy matters to drive the business optimization.
The CHC Scientific Affairs – Head, Behavioral Science;
Lead the development of consumer data-driven Scientific Affairs strategies sustaining the creation of consumer-friendly product labels and value-added umbrella branding in a self-care environment enabling the communication of the core CHC brand message deployed under a multi-channel engagement of consumers in a self-care environment.
Drive the use of social, behavioral or any consumer observation-based research in an innovative manner to leverage the consumers’ understanding of the label of Consumer Healthcare (CHC) products, and to sustain the added value of the product naming for brand loyalty.
Interpret research results, derive Scientific implications, perform analysis and gather strategic intelligence to provide Scientific insights regarding trends, patient needs, pain points and behavioral drivers on CHC labelling & umbrella branding.
Encourage collaboration with internal and external resources (ie. consumers, caregivers, nurses, representatives from patient advocacy groups, visual / digital communication experts, and additional subject-matter experts) to enable the development process of consumer-friendly product label and value-added umbrella branding.
Apply knowledge of a wide range of social, behavioral and consumer observation-based research and collection methods and the analytical ability to understand behavior of consumers in their self-diagnosis and self-selection process of a CHC product in a self-care environment.
Identity social, behavioral and consumer observation-based study requirements, the most effective way to integrate them into (digital) product label and umbrella testing program, and the most effective way to communicate research findings and recommendations.
Collect, process, and store social, behavioral and consumer observation-based research results in order to prepare analyses, estimates, and plans. Compile, categorize, and store research results appropriately to enable easy storage and timely retrieval of information from databases.
Apply analytical skills to research, identify key influencers to create consumer-friendly product label and value-added umbrella branding naming in a self-care environment, track spheres of influence, investigate backgrounds, define problems, develop solution sets, evaluative criteria, recommend best solution, and assist with implementation in the design of behavioral study program.
Ability to design (digital) product label and umbrella branding consumer testing protocol, focus groups, and other research tools to measure the effectiveness of (digital) product label messages or umbrella branding differentiation, and recommend adjustments to the (digital) product label and umbrella branding development strategy based on research results.
Provide social, behavioral and consumer observation-based research training as requested.
Develop and manage competitive benchmarking studies.
Lead the preparation of related submission dossier contents regarding the social and behavioral program sustaining the (digital) product label and umbrella branding development process.
Shape the Scientific environment to drive the self-care agenda on the development of consumer-data driven development strategy sustaining the creation of consumer-friendly (digital) product label and value-added umbrella branding.
Inspiring professional who will leverage his/her behavioral science experience and commercial awareness to proactively contribute to CHC business growth.
Strategic & Technical Regulatory Affairs Expertise:
Demonstrated success in developing behavioral or observational study program on the healthcare or health technology domain preferably in CHC environment across multiple regions and establishing high quality social, behavioral research and consumer observation study frameworks; possesses a strong knowledge of social, behavioral and consumer observation-based study research. He/she will bring creative & innovative ideas to leverage the consumers’ understanding of the product label, and to sustain the value-added umbrella branding to enable CHC category strategies.

The successful candidate will possess strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills as demonstrated by his/her successful interaction with Marketing, CMI, Industrial Affairs, etc. enabling him/ her to drive the CHC vision for the CHC portfolio. He/she will be at ease working in a matrix environment and display the necessary multicultural sensitivity in such a Global context.

Must have a PHD or equivalent experience in a research focused on behavioral or public health science.
At least 10 years of appropriate experience in a research focused in the behavioral or public health science field, including consumer studies.
Experience with social media data analysis.
Experience with discernment testing.
Experience using rigorous quantitative and qualitative methods to deal with unprecedented problems and situations.
Experience with identifying, collecting, organizing, and maintaining specified and implied socio-cultural data.
Experience sifting through large sets of data to extract key takeaways and making actionable recommendations.
Experience with pulling structured data from both consumer insights and open source datasets and munging the data as needed; experience reading, writing, creating, and explaining complex statistical models.
Experience in collecting and aggregating information to identify trends and gaps in the data available during the planning phase of research execution.
Experience in analyzing incomplete and conflicting information to produce behavioral research programs that anticipate trends.
Experience in reviewing research results for accuracy, relevance, timeliness, soundness of analysis.
Experience in developing and implementing the team’s research and reporting process, in compliance with established regulations and guidance to enable trend analysis and knowledge transfer.
Experience in producing briefing package as required to substantiate Health Authorities interaction plan.
Fluent English required; additional languages desirable.
Recognized expert in managing matrix teams and partnering with cross functional teams at a highly strategic level.
Experience living in different global regions/ countries desirable.
