Sanofi Group Associate Director, Digital Communications in Bridgewater, New Jersey

The Associate Director, Digital Communications will serve as the leader in executing the company’s digital presence, be an expert in social media communications, both current and emerging platforms, and have experience in managing traditional corporate website and Intranet content. The manager will maintain Sanofi’s U.S. corporate website, as well as corporate messaging on the company’s employee-focused Intranet, to ensure cohesive, compelling and relevant messaging across all corporate digital medium. Fostering internal and digital engagement efforts that reinforce Sanofi’s business objectives and commitment to public health while building employees’ sense of pride and understanding of their contribution to Sanofi is critical to the role.

This individual will be part of the North American (NA) Communications team reporting to the Head of Internal and Digital Communications. The manager will guide and continue implementation of the company’s social media platform and policies, enforcing the corporate social media guidelines by conducting ongoing reviews of the company and its competitors in social media, with periodic benchmarking. This individual will counsel relevant internal functions and manage the company’s U.S. corporate presence as determined appropriate in social networking sites including: LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc., and other similar online community websites. The manager will also assess user-generated posts to ensure timely action, where required, to create and foster a positive online reputation for the company. A “storyteller,” the manager must be able to creatively weave BU objectives and news into the fabric of the corporate narrative and internal campaigns, so employees emotionally connect to “big picture” priorities as they relate to their role.

The Associate Director, Digital Communications needs to have a passion for innovation and a comfort-level with operating and driving initiatives within complex, matrix organizations. The individual must have the ability to develop and execute all facets of digital campaigns, from strategy and content creation, the posting of content and images on social media, through social media listening and analysis. This person must have experience and an appreciation of an integrated, surround-sound approach and be willing to test new social media channels to convey messages in everyday terms, internally and externally. The manager must also have a creative, energetic and solutions-oriented mindset, ability to collaborate and adapt to changing internal dynamics and know how to prioritize projects. This role will be based out of Bridgewater, NJ.

Key Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute robust digital strategies that add to Sanofi’s social media following, enhance its corporate reputation, generate visibility, and aid in recruitment/retention of team members

  • Ensure consistent messaging, tone, and visual cohesiveness on Sanofi US digital properties, create posts and social media profiles, and respond to followers

  • Oversee Sanofi.us website and Intranet, collaborating with content owners, to manage user experience, content, and the seamless pull-through of social media posts on internal social media tools

  • Partner with the communications team, product social media managers, cross-functional business partners, the social media governance and Legal/Regulatory teams, Global, agencies, etc., to identify ways to integrate social media into business strategies, science, corporate social responsibility efforts (CSR), human resources and public awareness efforts

  • Create and manage a calendar of social media activity

  • Develop social media content (written, images, video) using Photoshop or other creative platforms, as needed

  • Maintain vigilant social listening to monitor competitor activity, respond to trends

  • Maintain and develop social media metrics, analytics and reporting with clearly defined key performance indicators (KPIs); share with management and other relevant key internal audiences (report notable user generated content including threats, Adverse Events (AEs))

  • Design, manage, execute targeted, paid digital media campaigns

  • Manage the digital agency and vendors and their support of Sanofi initiatives, including budgets

  • Develop online community engagement efforts and engage with followers seeking information

  • Curate relevant and appropriate third-party content that appeals to our audience

  • Train employees on how to leverage social media effectively

  • Evaluate new social media and digital channels/technologies Qualifications

  • Between 5-8 years of experience in pharmaceutical or industry-adjacent digital/social media communications, with expertise in both current and emerging platforms is required

  • Between 3-5 years of writing/copywriting/proofreading for a variety of digital/social media channels is required

  • At least 3-5 years of strategizing, developing, and managing traditional corporate website content and Intranet content is required

  • At least 5 years of experience in social media analytics and competitive analysis

  • At least 5 years of experience with visual/graphic design, with an eye for what images work, when, and on which channels, and an ability to format images for online publication

  • Proven ability to develop successful working relationships with senior executives and key stakeholders is required to achieve shared objectives

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of running organic and paid content via social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)

  • Extensive online listening experience, including popular platforms (e.g. Hootsuite, CRISP, Sprinklr)

  • Comfort with the concepts of content and word-of-mouth marketing is required

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and maintain composure in high-pressure situations with short turnaround times is required

  • Expert judgment in critical decision-making on issues impacting reputation is required
