Sanofi Group Accounting Specialist in Bridgewater, New Jersey
With the transition of Intercompany Accounting, Fixed Asset Accounting and Cash Accounting to the Budapest Shared Service Center there is a need for a local representative to support finance activities in these areas. This position will act as the North America liaison between Financial Controlling, NA Account to Report and Shared Services team in Budapest Hungary. The person in this role may perform any of the functional accounting responsibilities in the accounting areas mentions above.
Responsible for the North America closing process for various legal entities by performing tasks required to effectively close the books. The team in Budapest is ultimately responsible for executing the transactional accounting activity but this role will play an integral part in supporting requests of the local business to ensure that activities are recorded timely and accurately.
Responsibilities will include various day-to-day accounting tasks include booking journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, and analyzing financial data for all North American legal entities. The position will be heavily involved in the month end close and reporting process. In addition, the role will assist with departmental activities such as government reporting, insurance renewal, internal & external audit and SOX testing where applicable.
This position offers the opportunity to play a key role on Account to Report team through involvement in numerous transversal responsibilities which will contribute to the success of team and the incumbent’s growth and development.
Intercompany activities - liaison between Budapest, local Finance, Treasury and Accounting on unique transactions to ensure local requirements are met.
Cash transactions - liaison between Treasury this role will coordinate efforts between North America Treasury and Cash Accounting team in Budapest to ensure that issues arising from the closing are addressed timely and drive process improvements where necessary.
Fixed Asset activities – preparation of solar schedules for various legal entities, record journal entries (if necessary), investigate difference and resolve the discrepancies, communicate and troubleshoot issues with various finance teams in North America etc.
Partner with the business units and the Budapest team to continuously improve the services, accuracy and timing of the accounting function.
May support external and internal audit requests where applicable and ensures team’s compliance with all Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements for assigned areas.
May be required to support various on-going projects and system upgrades affecting the Account-to-Report team including but not limited to eClose, SHIFT, or any other projects that may require support or assistance. The position demands a considerable amount of service orientation, built around the concept of internal customers.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration from an accredited four-year college or university
4+ years of experience in accounting field
A willingness to accept and address resistance to change and opinions of others.
Excellent communication both in writing and verbally, proactive, willing to challenge the status quo, ability to problem solve and investigate issues independently and as a team, and to effectively collaborate with other cross-functional teams.
A tolerance for ambiguity and willingness to accept change as part of overall process.Preferred Qualifications:
CPA or MBA
Prior experience in Intercompany accounting, Cash accounting or Fixed Asset Accounting
Experience with SAP modules is highly preferred.
Strong commitment to timelines or deadlines
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple objectives at the same time
Ability to communicate and work effectively in a matrix environment at all levels of management
